Historical note of the day: Rutgers was named for Col. Henry Rutgers, a revolutionary war figure and slaveholder who became wealthy by brewing beer. Originally beer was served with meals at the Student Union free of charge. I will even add a reference for those who wish to read more on this subject:   Review: 'The United States of Beer' by Dane Huckelbridge (journalstar.com)
