Best freshmen in the B1G:

Gary Harris, MSU

AJ Hammons, Purdue

Nick Stauskas, Michigan

Mitch McGary, Michigan

Glenn Robinson III, Michigan

Shavon Shields, Nebraska

Yogi Ferrell, Indiana

Sam Dekker, Wisconsin

Mike Gesell, Iowa

That is 9.  Anyone I am missing?  I would think the first team would be made up of 5 of those 9 off the top of my head.

Besides Shields, have any of those players been freshman of the week more than one time this season?

He's played great under tough circumstances all year, and to add some icing, I for one think he'll improve vastly from this season to next.  His ceiling is high, and the nice thing about that is he's not standing at the bottom looking up at that high ceiling.  His Freshman season has him with a huge head start compared to the majority of D1 kids his age!

Cheers to Shavon

Shavon will learn from both the ups and the downs this season. When he doesn't play all that well, he can study what went wrong and try to improve.

He's already well ahead of schedule in my book. I don't know many who expected him to play this well so quickly. He was also reported by Rivals to be 6'4", only to report at 6'6", which was another pleasant surprise.
