Any news on the summer workouts?

Fourth of July Scrimmage:

Blaise Keita: as good as advertised, a Grown A** Man!
Gary: Strong to the hole, tough on ball defender.
Bandoumel: Better shooter/ball handler than expected.
Lyod: Very smooth, definitely in the mix for major minutes.
The BIGGEST take away is this though, your starting 5 was

Blaise, Walker, Gary, Bandoumel, Griesel. Your first player to “flip”

sides was Briedenbach for Walker.

That is a "punch you in the mouth" starting lineup for sure.  Fred appears to be going the complete opposite direction from his comfort zone.

Things were going to be different every year except the 2014-2015 season. Things were supposed to be the same that year, but it turned out they really were different.

I’m pretty confident things will look different this year, good or bad. I’m excited, as I always am, to get to watch our team. Hopefully we will play with much better effort and as a team so I can enjoy it even if the record does not get where we all hope.

There is a lot to absorb in that little statement.  A lot.  A few of the many reasons last year was a colossal dumpster fire.  Not watching film...talking back at coaches...no cohesion...no leadership...no coaching...no discipline...NO FLIPPIN CHANCE!

Fans should have a gotten their money back!!!!

This is disturbing. The coaches who are successful (Izzo, Self, Jay Wright, etc.) are able to impose their will on their players. They demand that things be done the right way. Some of them may allow for a player to blow off some steam in the heat of the moment, but in the end, the player does what he's instructed to do or there are consequences. On teams where there is a healthy culture, leaders on the team enforce the instructions given by the coaching staff. Hoping the current crew of players can change the culture. My brother was talking with a Michigan basketball booster. The booster said that when John Beilein was coaching, he would often stop practice for even small errors, like making a pass to the wrong shoulder, or failing to set a pick correctly. That's the type of attention to detail which makes a team successful.

Let’s not read too much into this.  A player’s comments aren’t exactly a Supreme Court opinion.  We all said lots of things in college that weren’t exactly gospel—even with best intentions.

This is PEAK CHEMISTRY season where someone always says that the group is tighter than the prior season.  Heck, at least we have enough continuity to be able to compare.
