The Nebraska women's basketball team's 2022-23 home Big Ten Conference schedule will feature marquee matchups with Iowa, Maryland, Michigan and Ohio State in what promises to be one of the most loaded Big Ten home schedules in Big Red history.

The Huskers, who are coming off a 24-9 season that culminated with a trip to the 2022 NCAA Tournament, learned their conference matchups on Thursday, June 16, when the Big Ten announced its double- and single-plays for the upcoming season. No dates or times have been set, as the league scheduling process continues throughout the summer. A complete schedule with television designations is not expected until early fall.

Nebraska is coming off its best season since the 2013-2014 season when Connie Yori led the Huskers to a 26-7 finish and to the second round of the NCAA tournament.

Nebraska’s home schedule is challenging as it features ESPN preseason No. 6 Iowa, No. 15 Ohio State, No. 18 Maryland, and Michigan, which made the 2022 Elite Eight. Michigan State, Northwestern, Penn State, Wisconsin and Illinois will also travel to Pinnacle Bank Arena.

The Huskers’ road matchups aren’t any easier as they travel to Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Northwestern and Illinois. They have four road-only games highlighting No. 12 Indiana, which has reached back-to-back Sweet Sixteens in the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons.

More of the same, just another version ...

Nebraska women’s coach Amy Williams may be looking at the best team she has had in her seven seasons running the show.

The Huskers will get the chance to prove it against a loaded slate. Nebraska is ranked No. 22 in the ESPN preseason rankings and No. 20 in the way-too-early rankings released right after the 2021-22 season ended. It returns Alexis Markowski, the Big Ten Freshman of the Year, plus All-Big Ten players Sam Haiby, Jaz Shelley and Isabelle Bourne and starting guard Allison Weidner.

That strong core group will face off against No. 6 Iowa, No. 15 Ohio State, No. 18 Maryland and Michigan, which reached the Elite Eight last season. The Huskers will also match up with Michigan State, Northwestern, Penn State, Wisconsin and Illinois. Those are their home games, but they will travel to face No. 12 Indiana as well, in addition to games at Minnesota, Purdue and Rutgers. The double-play opponents are Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Northwestern and Illinois

While football and men’s basketball are each in make-or-break years under Scott Frost and Hoiberg, the main women’s programs in the fall and winter months continue to surge. It remains to be seen if there will be fireworks for the men’s programs, but the women figure to put on a show a few months from now at the Devaney Center and Pinnacle Bank Arena.

   No, I hadn't noticed.

Maybe because Julia Orzol,  Wisconsin was the B1G Volleyball FOY for 2021.  (Lexi Rodriguez & Lindsay Krause were named to the All-Freshman Team)

But; Lexi Rodriguez Was the AVCA Freshman of the Year - an even more prestigious honor.

Not a very attractive home Non-Conference schedule.  The three hour o e way drive with high fuel prices may curb my attendance.

hard to argue that.....but, look at last season (non-con). things turned out pretty good.

at Creighton, at Drake, at Virginia Tech will be tough road games.

Nebraska's non-con schedule with last year's final NET score and record:

276 Houston Baptist 13-11
270 Tarleton State 12-13
263 Samford 11-17
249 Omaha 6-19
239 @ Texas A&M CC (in San Juan) 16-10
109 Wyoming 15-13
80 @ Drake 19-14
60 @ Mississippi St (in San Juan) 15-14
37 Kansas 21-10
31 @ Creighton 23-10
9 @ Virginia Tech 23-10

probably 3 top 50 rpi and 6 top 100 rpi teams.  This is a sound schedule.  A couple teams to let us try rotations along with a sound tune up teams and some rpi help to help push tourney seatings.

Unfortunately, we probably won't have Maggie during that "pre season" time frame. We could certainly use her talents, and also give her some college, and pre B1G experience, but probably won't happen...like has been said ..it is what it is. ..........Plus just can't wait to see her in action.

Season's still about 3 months away, so will have to watch some volleyball and football. Which may be real interesting too. Lots of good stuff on the horizon.
