----------------------------------------------------

WBB Sweet 16, Final Four (2022)

Huskers have 4 wins against the Sweet Sixteen Teams:

That is:

(# 3) Michigan (52) (2-0) next up ...............vs (#10) South Dakota (49), Sat, 3/26 @ 6:30pm, ESPN2
(#10) Creighton (76) (1-0) .............................vs (#3) Iowa State (68), Fri, 3/25 @ 9:30 pm, ESPN2

(#3) Indiana (58) (1-1) .....................................vs (#2) UCONN (75), Sat, 3/26 @ 2 pm, ESPN
(#6) Ohio State (63) (0-1) ..............................vs (#2) Texas (66), Fri, 3/25 @ 7 pm, ESPN2
(#4) Maryland (66), (0-1) ................................vs (#1) Stanford (72), Fri, 3.25 @ 9:30 pm ESPN

Interesting - Both teams that beat us in reg season LOST Fri; yet the team we beat, WON their game.  We'll see how Michigan and Indiana fare today (Sat).

Indiana, that we split with,  LOST;  Michigan, that we beat, TWICE, WON.   (South Dakota gave 'em as much as they wanted tho)

Makes the Gonzaga performance even more frustrating.  We are on the fringe of being very good. We can compete, with the right matchups, against the best teams. Now, we need to take the big step to defeat the very best.

watched a few replays last couple of days. at one point in the indiana game (about 8:30 in the 4th quarter) the announcer stated  the huskers were 11 for 26 in layups. now, granted, some of these aren't your basic layups---there are bodies and arms around at times...not the only game this issue reared its head. plus, a few other things to work on.

plus, i would like to state i am not ripping on the team. just some constructive criticism.

It isn't easy.....Ultimately goes back to being physical, and willing (and able to) to bounce off defenders...and finish. Markowski can do that,...she can take a hit, so to speak, and still score...Sam too.

Some previously like Griffin, Hooper, Ivy....the great ones....could make the physical plays in the paint.

Maryland this year, and Gonzaga, are other example of "physicality".

Nothing new here....same in men's play. Just part of the game we need to get batter at executing. Been an issue all year, against some defenses

Just remember that Alexis is just a freshmen.  We sometimes have memories of past great post players but let's compare their freshman years to be fair.

Agree, but this presumes that substantial development occurs after the first year.  Cain showed great promise as a 10/7/3 frosh.  Unfortunately she flat-lined after that.  Markowski, Weidner, etc. need to be coached up and have the desire to work at getting better.

Exciting finish to Ohio State vs Texas! OSU down 10, 50-60 w/5 min to go has narrowed it to 58-60 @ 3:18.

Tx chokes, misses 2 FT's.

1 pt game 61-62 @1:19 (then TX makes a lay-up; 3 pt game! TO)

Refs don't call a TX foul on OSU inbound, but OSU gets a basket: 63-64. 10.7 sec left.

TX w/ 2 FTs, makes both, Hangs on to win 63-66.

Louisville vs Tennessee is a good game.

Louisville leads by 5 (18-13) at the end of Q1!

Louisville 39-28 at the half (lead by as much as 15 or so). Tennessee shooting is a little off, think they are uncomfortable by Lousiville pressure. Louisville has a little better teamwork in the paint.

(Watching seems instructive as to what we have to do (consistently) to get to the next level )

Louisville 55-50 at the 3nd of the third!

After closing to within 2 pt early in the 4th, Tennessee kept it close till Louisville pulled away to win 76-64.

Seems like Louisville would make the extra pass (sometimes two extra passes) for the bucket!

South Dakota taking it to Michigan early, Lead 11-5 until Michigan scored a quick 4 pts at the end of Q1.

South Dakota Leads Michigan 26-24 at the Half. Only lost the lead once, to regain it.

We've got a good game going on!

Go Yotes!!! :Cheer2::Cheer2::Cheer2:

Michigan Leads by one point;, 39-38, at the End of the third quarter. A close game. Looks like this one will go down to the wire! :Timeout:

Announcers seem to favor Naz Hillmon, Kim Barnes-Arico, (and Michigan, of course).

Tie Game, 48 All; 48.5 sec left!!!!! Go Yotes!!!

Mich scores, 50-48, 23.5 sec left,  Yotes miss,  Mich ball, 15.0 left

Leigha Brown makes 2 Fts

South Dakota makes 1 of 2 FTs  7.5 sec left

Michigan (last B1G Team Standing) Wins;  52-49  (south Dakota gave them all they wanted, largest lead by either team; 6 Pts)

This run by Creighton will help with their recruiting. Might get some players to come who could have looked elsewhere. South Dakota while loosing three super seniors have a couple of freshman to fill the void. Grace Larkins has a nice game.

Creighton was just physically overpowered by South Carolina.  No shame.  The elite teams are still a big cut above the rest of the pack in WBB.

Looks that way and will certainly be proven essentially if the other 2 one seeds win tonight as expected.

no argument here.......sure, the "elite" teams are gonna lose some games. however, they have top talent at practically every position and are gonna win many, many games. not sure i see things changing much in the near future.

Actually UCONN I believe is picked to win over NC State. Partially because they are playing in their own back yard, in Bridgeport.

Yeah forgot that UConn was actually the 2 and NC St, the 1 because of that home court advantage.  should have fact checked first.  🥴  But in my mind UConn is the fave but wouldn't be too surprised if State pulled it off.

Thought that game may have been the best to watch in the tourney so far. Great game. Beuckers (sp) was deadly in the second half.....about 8/9 shooting and didn't miss a free throw.  A UConn big fell and broke her wrist it looked like. Ouch !  Hope she heals up OK.

The UConn - Stanford should be a good one too. Both teams are high Bball IQ.
