Could Sam Griesel have played on a decent team in the Big Ten?

Watched NDSU and SDSU play in the Summit League championship. Both teams were probably better than all but a few Husker teams in the last 25 years.

Sam was really solid. Led the team in points, rebounds and assists. I believe they said he finished 2nd in voting for Summit League POY behind Scheierman. He was their full time point guard. Plays under control and unselfish. Big and strong. He wasn't tasked with guarding Scheierman at all, even though he matches up well with him physically. Hard to tell how his perimeter defense will translate to the Big Ten. I got the feeling he's a better post defender than perimeter defender. I could see us playing 4 guards, with Sam being point on offense and guarding the other team's 4 on defense. That would be an improvement at that defensive spot from this past season (Lat and CJ).

Wish he had more than 1 year left to play, but I like the addition.

Pleased to have him aboard. It's nice that he wants to be here and represent the University. Even if he's not a game changer, I really think we need home state kids like Sam to change the culture. I saw him in high school and watched him in college and felt like he can be a solid contributor.

Doesn’t appear he is going back to SDSU. Put his name in the draft but guessing he will pull out and transfer. Make it happen Fred

Edit, Talking about Scheierman

Wouldn't surprise me if he latched on to an NBA opportunity.... guess we'll have to wait & see. He's a bit of a unicorn, having led the Summit in both rebounds & assists, while garnering the Player of the Year and being back-to-back 1st team all conference. Wish he'd want to be in Lincoln, however, Nebraska could use more playmaking dudes like Baylor Scheierman.

I watch a smattering of Summit League hoops on ESPN+ and I think about that all the time.  Like, could Baylor Scheierman come in for us and dominate the Big Ten like he does in the Summit?  And every time the conclusion I come to is "no...no he would not".

Just digging up the first reply in the thread here.  Will we get a chance to find out???

Also, keep in mind that @Norm Peterson did use the caveat "Decent Big Ten Team"...
