HuskerFever Posted February 10, 2022 Report Posted February 10, 2022 We made it to Day 2 of winning. Is this how it works? With a season like this, that's how it's going to work... Silverbacked1, cornfed24-7 and Chuck Taylor 3 Quote

In 2010, he moved to the Chinese club Shanxi Brave Dragons, and in 2012 he joined the Chinese club Qingdao Eagles, where he was a teammate of Tracy McGrady. Shang moved to the Greek League club Panathinaikos in 2013, thus becoming the first Chinese player to ever play in a European basketball league.[3][4] He returned to China in 2014 and spent the next two seasons with the Tianjin Gold Lions. jimmykc Posted February 11, 2022 Report Posted February 11, 2022 (edited) My dad is the player in the top row, next to Coach Gus Fish. Most of the players were on the GI Bill after WWII. Coach Butterfield in the lower right later became father of one of the founders of Nelnet and I later met him at BDSC at a game he attended against OSU. He still remembered dad(who passed in 2009) missing a layup that would have beaten Marshall in the NAIA tourney game. Edited February 11, 2022 by jimmykc Red Don and HB 2 Quote

Now, granted, that is only based upon arriving early and watching pre-game drills. He sort of reminds me of a Wisconsin big...if that makes sense. Given his willingness to redshirt, build his body and skillset; I am sort of hoping he will be a sleeper/steal for us. I would actually agree here, and am pleasantly intrigued by Oleg. We've obviously been burned by these type of guys in the past - but I've seen him do some stuff in warm-ups that make me go hmmmmm.... (in a good way). On a scale between Alecs Maric & Brady Heiman where would say he falls…? An Oleg, Walker, Wilhelm frontline is intriguing… basketballjones 1 Quote

hhcmatt Posted February 12, 2022 Report Posted February 12, 2022 Nebraska Post-Game Notes Alonzo Verge Jr. scored a game-high 22 points, his fifth 20-point effort of the season. Verge was 8-of-12 from the field in the game, including 7-of-8 in the second half, when he scored 20 points. Verge scored or assisted on 10 of Nebraska’s second-half field goals, and he also led the Huskers with five second-half free throws. Bryce McGowens added 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting. McGowens scored in double figures for the sixth straight game and for the 19th time this season. Verge and McGowens both scored in double figures for the 13th time this season. Derrick Walker Jr. added 11 points on 4-of-4 shooting and grabbed seven rebounds. Walker is now shooting 69 percent from the floor this season. Trey McGowens filled up the stat sheet with six points, seven rebounds and five assists without a turnover. His five assists were a season high and one shy of his career high. The Huskers forced 18 turnovers against the Golden Gophers – Minnesota’s most in Big Ten play this season – and Nebraska tied its season high with 25 points off turnovers. Nebraska recorded 12 steals, tying its season high in that category. Lat Mayen had a career-high three steals for the Big Red, while Verge also had three. The Huskers outscored Minnesota 40-22 in the paint. Nebraska’s 40 paint points were its highest in Big Ten play, and the plus-18 scoring margin in the paint the Huskers’ largest of the conference season. Nebraska also limited Minnesota to a 39.3% shooting percentage (22-of-56), marking the third lowest percentage for a Husker opponent in conference play. The 78-65 win over Minnesota gives Nebraska its first conference win of the season, and its first Big Ten win since March 1 of last season against Rutgers (72-51). Nebraska never trailed and led for all but 23 seconds in the game. Nebraska’s 21 points allowed in the first half was a season-best allowed and matched the lowest allowed in Fred Hoiberg’s three seasons (vs. TAMU-CC in 2019-20). Quote

I love telling this next story. Season tickets were $99 in the nose bleeds at BDSC. I bought 2. One for me and my Dad. So we're at this game and Doc puts Ping in. By my recollection Ping had not seen action in awhile. So anyhoo Ping gets put in. I swear nearly immediately Ping does something that absolutely sets Doc off. And perfectly there is nothing more than the very dull hum at BDSC. And Docs booming voice fills the arena with, "Ping!! PING!!! GOD! DAMMIT! PIIING!!!! He promptly calls a timeout and yanks Ping. And the way I'm telling this story... that was the last time Ping saw game action at Nebraska. hhcmatt 1 Quote
