Better competition is exposing some warts.  Agree, we are not a very good defensive team. Not sure it is the players.  Could be the coaching/preparation.  Good teams have been getting open shots every game.  Also, driving to the hoop with little resistance.

As others have mentioned, on the offensive side, why do we have posts spending so much time at the top of the key?  Stewart is understandable.  She is a terrific shooter.  We used to run Kate out top all the time too.  Only thing that accomplished, usually led to an unnecessary foul or two.  Lots of dribbling.  We're having trouble finishing at the bucket.

I like our talent.  Maybe staff/team will put it together in the 2nd half.

We lack footspeed at certain positions thats for sure, Markowski has been terrible defensively tonight. I dont think they have played any zone this year but this would be a game to try it.

We played good man defense early in the season and at the Mich. game.  Ever since we have forgotten how to get back and play defense.  Keep your post in the lane on defense.....coach.

Indiana just waits until we pull the post and they cut to the basket for an assist  throw inside ..and a basket.  Looks like they picked that up on film.

And the turnover's ugly head has returned. Think the announcer said 13 so far ..in 3rd qtr.  14..15....and counting

NE needs  better offensive movement plus better defense.  Williams is pulling her typical  no-adjustments by using a time out as it is now the end of the 3rd quarter and no time outs have been taken by her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   We are now down 14 versus 13 at the half.  Missing a bunch of lay ups again plus 4 of 16 on 3s and only 7-12 on free throws!!!!!!!!!!!

Final Stats:

Stats are amazingly close! Surprisingly we out-rebounded them 41-35 ; 2nd Chance Points: 16-2 😮image.gif; & Points-in-the-Paint: 32-28.

I'm really glad to see we're concentrating on developing our inside game without relying so much on 3-pointers (18 of our 65 pts - Indiana also had 18 pts in treys on almost the same # of attempts).

Indiana is an experienced team who have played together for a long time (rotation is only about 6 players). We are a Talented, but Young team with several newcomers this season who will only get better and more comfortable playing with each other.  We also need to learn how to play smarter with situational awareness; i.e. how to Draw fouls, instead of Getting them.

Plenty of FIGHT in This TEAM!!!!!  :Catfight:

Sam being out will really hurt, of course, but maybe Amy can use it as an opportunity to get Kendall Coley on perimeter where she belongs.  That is, if Bella returns.  1 shot, 0 points, and 3 rebounds is not enough in 18 minutes, and I think or at least hope it is a positioning thing.  Also wish Amy would ride the player's streaks more......Scoggin hits a 3, out she comes. Been happening for years. Pull them after misses or turnovers, not makes.

In some ways we looked like last year and the year before...etc, etc ......poor defense, poor ball handling, ...turnovers....Poor three shooting.

Maybe just had one of those ugly ones, but at the wrong time.

Indiana had something to do with it, but come on girls, lets get to the next one with our friends from the bad corn state.

Hope Sam's OK

Speaking of them, they went zero-for-15 from 3-point range Thursday night against Purdue but still won by 13, in part because the Hawks made 27-of-30 free throws. Warnock was zero-for-4 from deep.

Which Hawkeyes will show up? The ones that haven't shot well for 13 games, or the ones that were unconscious at PBA?
