Big Ten Conference WBB Statistics

If you haven't already done so go to Huskers.com and the WBB page and click on statistics and then on individual and then conference only.  Those individual stats including some for the team are very informative.  It's been only 4 conference games but you can start to see how everyone is doing after filtering out the somewhat easy non conference games.  To me it is very evident that Alexis M. needs to be on the floor as much as possible.  A real game changer.  Especially what she has done in such limited minutes.  Also outside of Ashley S. who is shooting  threes at 46% the rest of the team combined is shooting 21%.  That tells me that we are shooting too many threes and we need to get the ball to Alexis as much as possible.  Yes she can't play when setting on the bench in foul trouble like yesterday but we probably would have won if she wasn't.  She is a game changer who is learning Big Ten post play very rapidly.  If she would have played more at Michigan State we would have won that game.  In 11 minutes she doubled Issie and Bella's rebounds and matched their point total.  They each played about 24 minutes.  Alexis only had 2 fouls so in that case it was coach's decision not to play her more.

Markowski looks like she is coachable and wants to be good.  She is making some silly fouls which is limiting her court time.  I want to see how she does against Holmes at Indiana on Thursday.  Bourne needs to step up her game, she is better than she has been playing.

Scoggin can shoot the rock and we need to look for her more.  She also doesn’t appear uncomfortable shooting in late clock situations.  Others have a tendency to hurry shots.

agree.........bourne isn't having a great year so far. she's been good, however, needs to step it up a bit.

When she has to guard someone under the basket she seems to do OK.  When she has to come out and play a fast good shooting stretch 4 like Warnock she seems to have problems.  She isn't as active as Cravens.

She was effective in the Iowa game. Had a couple of fouls, then sat the bench a long time. ....Apparently to long.  Let her play and foul out if it happens, she'll learn from it...shes a true freshman. She just brings to much scoring and rebounding to not start, probably even when Bella comes back.  Coaches should rethink the subbing of the 4;s and 5 position.

Yep, to many are shooting 3's that are under 20% accurate stat wise.. If your going to be successful as a team, use your shooters where their skills lay. Shoot in practice and have some fun, but when the game starts there needs to be some guidelines for shooting probably, but added to the los.  That wasn't the only reason we lost for sure.

Everyone left too many Iowa players open. Like discussed previously...the defensive scheme was suspect.

To be honest we need Jaz to heat back up behind the three point line.  Other than that yes we take to many 3's.  What I do not understand is why we have bigs playing around the 3pt. line.  A couple years ago Verbeek went from a descent post player to a lousy guard and it looks as if we are trying the same journey with Issie right now.  +5 rebounds a game would be far more impactful than 1-9 from the 3pt. line.  With her athleticism, using her high to low post would be a real hand full for the other team to stop.  Hanging around the 3pt. line takes her out of the game.  Seriously as a coach, I am not wasting my time defending a 10% shooter.
