Nebraska (5-5) vs. Auburn (7-1) Game Thread

Part of the issue is character.  I don't expect the players to be stupid and throw punches, but I do expect them to have pride in how they look and play.  It is disappointing watching the shoulders slump, the lack of hustle and the failure to figure things out.  Be a teammate at the very least.

In less than 3 years under Hoiberg his Nebraska teams have allowed 90+ points 10 times, 3 of those 10 (1 point away from being the 4th time today) have been 100+ points, including the 4OT game against NC State.

For reference, in the previous 7 seasons under Tim Miles and Co, Nebraska Basketball allowed 90+ points 9 times, and never gave up 100+

What a difference ideology can make in coaching.

At least we got killed by a great team today instead of a pretty good team like Michigan

Here is the deal though, as a coach you have to put players in a position to succeed against any team; and you have to set expectations, and require players to meet or exceed those expectations.  Right now, because our style of play (the last two games) we are not holding players accountable nor are we adjusting our game plan (offensively or defensively) for the players to succeed.

I wasn't complimenting the performance

We have no clue on offense. We have no clue on defense. Years ago we couldn't have imagined a scenario where we had this type of talent on the same team at one time:

Bryce McGowens ESPN #26

Keon Edwards ESPN #41

Wilhelm Breidenbach ESPN #77

CJ Wilcher ESPN #81

Alonzo Verge ESPN 4 star

Derrick Walker ESPN 4 star

And yet these guys would get their ass beat by Miles' 6-man team of Palmer, Watson, Roby, Borchardt, Thor and Trueblood that won 2 Big Ten Tournament games and was 4 points shy of the semifinals.

Don't forget however that Palmer, Watson, Roby, Allen, and Copeland were all 4 or 5 star Top 150 guys. And the year before that, we also had top 50 4* Anton Gill to go with them. Hell, Nana was a top 150 guy.

Miles brought in as much talent as Hoiberg IMO.

Miles did a great job of identifying kids before they "blew" up.  It lost us some recruits that we were in pretty good on, but also led to situations like you mentioned above. We never really had a ton of top 50 guys because most of the Miles recruits would "sneak" into the top 150 during their senior years it seemed like.
