Sometimes the emotions get in the way or there's more happening beyond the surface. I find that the NCAA stats can help provide some more color to the overall status of our team performance, beyond wins and losses.

Top 25 in defensive rebounds per game.  Opponents not shooting good or pace of play?  Crazy considering how many offensive rebounds we also give up.

Having a 4OT game helps to skew the per game stats this early in the season, especially when it is a game where both teams missed a lot of shots...that's an extra half-game of play without impacting the denominator.

Didn't realize they were so high in free throws made and attempted. Did some quick math. In losses, they've averaged 11/15 versus 19/26 in wins. I know it's not this simple but an extra 8 points at the line in the 4 losses and that turns into 2 wins and a tie with Creighton.

Also feels like you can live with -7 rebounding margin when you are +5 in turnover margin. Of course, Big Ten play will definitely drive those numbers lower, so probably not sustainable come conference time. (finished with -0.9 last year, 2.0 in Fred's first year, and 3.5 in Tim's last year).

But we're #325 in offensive rebounds. So imagine where we would be without that 4OT.
