Booting the ball, and walking guys. which you can't assume given that pitchers change approaches. analytics are really clear about bunting rules even in the minors, *unless* you have a non-hitting pitcher up or the game is late and trading outs for a single run becomes more desirable. that's literally *never* the 2d inning (shift excepting). i'm guessing college still does it because the error is more prevalent than in higher leagues. in any event, the real killer was the base running snafu. that was just mind-boggling. We had a walk, an error in CF, nobody covering 2nd, a WP that allowed 2 runs to score because overthrow the pitcher covering 2nd, and now are down 3 - 1. You can't do this to good teams.
