50 years doing what she loved.  Very few can say that about any occupation. A pioneer in women's basketball, and the accomplishments are extensive to say the least. She started back in the day when few girls even played basketball.

Very well spoken heartfelt words about her retirement and career.  Quite a lady ...and great person. The essence of hard work thought out her life, and what can be accomplished.

since things are slow this time of the year...some Minnesota info from a podcast. was told to listen to a segment on minnesota wbb coach lindsay whalen. the two reporters stated that they are hearing nothing but great things about whalen from the "inside". since she was hired, it has been a rather awkward transition. it was a big struggle in-house the past couple of years. with the holdovers gone, and the "great" recruiting class coming in---she will now begin to have her own team. discussion of Paige Bueckers came up---Stollings (head coach at the time) never set foot in Hopkins building (where Bueckers played her hs ball). the inside discussion....if whalen would have been hired a year earlier, these guys were hearing minnesota would have landed Bueckers. btw, it was well known Bueckers was/is a huge fan of whalen.

well, as they say, time will tell.

speaking of minny...take a look at this 6th grader playing for 17U club. not bad. there is a news segment done by a Duluth, Mn tv station. she was a 4th grader at the time. family struggled to find her help with her severe OCD. Chloe would wash her hands constantly until they would bleed.........then they found basketball (her mother prayed that they could find something that would help with her OCD).

came across this rather "new" big ten wbb newsletter. subscription is free (right now). anyway, preview of teams is going from worst to best, i believe. this one is on Minny. interesting take. btw, i think this guy does a podcast for Buckeye sports. went back and read last years preview for Nebraska---i would say he pretty much nailed it.

https://hooplanewsletter.substack.com/p/2022-minnesota-preview

"The graduate transfers will be utilized, but it seems clear what Minnesota is doing here: Clearing the way for the freshmen. This is no ordinary freshman class, especially considering how not good the Gophers have been in recent years. Whalen has managed to hold on to a class that ranked top 10 nationally, with four players that should be able to make an immediate impact."

"I just want to see the freshmen, and I want to see glimpses of what the future could hold. You cannot lose 13 players and turn into a contender. This is, instead, as close to a tank for prospects as you will see in college basketball, at least in the sense of what the goals should be.

Minnesota’s offense has never been the problem under Whalen, but some signs of life on defense would be a welcomed change. The Gophers held onto the ball well, but could not get any turnovers the other way, so some new life could help improve the defensive effort.

I may expect another season at the bottom of the standings for the Gophers, but if this was a ranking based on intrigue and potential, Minnesota is among the top teams in the conference, and maybe the country."

Thanks, Whoop for all your eagle-eye input. :Salute:

Seems like the B1G is about to get tougher & tougher; Happily, we also have a pretty good returning roster (maybe one of the best ones ever), plus several talented newcomers.   Sure interested to learn what they have to say about this years Huskers. :Cheer2:

This probable change may be the first of many...perhaps additional teams, doing away with divisions, more or perhaps less conference games, and no conference tournaments???   Change...it is a coming!
