at least Maryland has the ability to play some defense. iowa is just going to try and outscore you. obvious Maryland's defense got rather lackadaisical at times---however, no doubt iowa can score. won't surprise me to see Maryland make the Final Four.

as far as i'm concerned, Clark is fun to watch. iowa is gonna be awful tough while she's there....and, who knows after that. they continue to recruit pretty well. Clark does complain/question a bit, but, imo nothing like whatshername. slips my mind at the moment....sam logic. a "Clark" just doesn't come around very often.

stinking "butgers"!!! can't stand mack. anyone else see it? looked like she was running towards her bench looking back at the spartans bench (taunting?) after the final horn and knocked the ref out cold. she was still on the floor as they broke to the osu game. like to see a replay of that again.  mack was chirping the whole game....even at her own players! ugh

i was yelling at mack, but, thought the announcers said they brought out a stretcher.

this is from last week:

EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Official Angie Enlund was hurt at the end of the Rutgers-Michigan State women’s basketball game Wednesday and taken to a hospital.

After the final buzzer, Rutgers player Tekia Mack was heading back to the Scarlet Knights bench when she inadvertently ran over Enlund at center court, hitting her hard.

Enlund was on the ground for a few minutes and taken off on a stretcher. She did have mobility and movement of her extremities and went to a hospital to be further evaluated.

“I know she was unconscious for a period of time,” Michigan State coach Suzy Merchant said. “They took her in an ambulance, but it’s a very scary and serious thing. She hit very, very hard. She hit her head really hard, so I would just pray for her and her family and hope that she is going to be OK.”

just in case you like to read about other Big Ten squads.

from the MNDaily on the gophers future:

Throughout the season, Whalen had used the popular game Jenga as a motivational tactic for her team. The blocks exemplify building a foundation and getting better every day — something that certainly resonated with the group, as they continued to improve week in and week out no matter what challenges they faced.

“We gotta just keep building every day to get better,” Scalia said. “We have to keep building the foundation, and we have started to do that.”

On the surface, it might be hard to pull any positives from an 8-13 season, but Whalen learned a lot about her team over the last four months.

The Gophers’ three leading scorers all have at least two years of college eligibility remaining, while every player on the team appeared in at least five games. Looking ahead to next season, they will likely return 80% of their scoring production with a chance to return it all, as redshirt senior Gadiva Hubbard and graduate student Laura Bagwell Katalinich have yet to announce whether they will utilize their extra season of eligibility.

The future’s looking bright in Dinkytown, as Minnesota’s talented young roster continues to add blocks to its Jenga tower.

Quite a salary for a head women's coach.  But the results this year shows she is probably earning it, esp. if she can keep that high a level going.

Personally think Braun is the best of the bunch but Battle is dang good as well. Maryland really wanted both of them. That Braun Battle backcourt is gonna give opposing guards fits.

😯

https://www.wlfi.com/content/news/Purdue-Womens-Basketball-coach-accused-of-creating-a-toxic-environment-for-athletes-575123791.html

from the article:

Sports 18 received documents accusing current Purdue women's head basketball coach Sharon Versyp and her wife, Ms. Terry Kix, of violating the University's Anti-Harassment Policy.

It is alleged that an incident occurred after the Purdue Women's Basketball game against the University of Wisconsin during the 2018-2019 season.

Specifically, the documents allege that the coaching staff and Ms. Kix were frustrated with the performance of a freshman player.

Once the game was concluded everyone boarded the plane back home, it is alleged that after hearing someone laugh, Ms. Kix yelled at the said player, raised her hand, and knocked the player's phone out of her hand.

It is also alleged that Ms. Kix continued yelling at the said player after the altercation and teammates had to pull her away from that player.

It is further alleged that since the incident Kix and Versyp made a hostile environment for participation in the University program for the said player and the other members of the team.

my gut tells me Versyp will be gone very soon.
