The above stat comparison was for all 30 games of the season versus only the 18 game Big Ten stats which reflect a less positive season!!!!

Nebraska Women's Basketball experience in the Big Ten since first season 2011-2012

NOTE:  Tried to focus on Big Ten Experience only from NE Women's Stat pages but did not find Big Ten Only information for 2012-2016

William's 2019-2020 team lost 2 more conference games than the prior year  and finished 10th in the Big Ten (2nd worst in 9 years).  Scoring margin was a negative 1.89  the second worst in 9 years and down from a plus 5.4 in 2017-2019.  The field goal average declined to a 3 year low of 0.401.  The conference turnover average was up slightly to 14.8 while the turnover margin was a negative 2.80 which was the second worst in 9 years.  Average assists decreased  to 13.7 which was the lowest in 8 years. Assist to turnovers decreased to 0.93.  Steals were a 4 year low of 6.2. Average offensive rebounds improved slightly to 10.22 but were the second lowest level in 9 years.  Defensive rebounds improved a 4 year high of 28.8 a game,  but the rebounds average to opponents remained negative at 1.4  Basically,  the 2019-2020 results for the NE women's basketball team in the conference are not reflective of expected improvement for Williams and her coaching staff in their 4 years!!  Improvement in the team has not been seen with continued missed layups, high turnovers at times, lack of inside and 3 point defense,  and poor offensive rebounding!!  After this year, Williams has 3 years on her contract.  Her recruiting efforts have been weak in getting any D-1 candidates from either Lincoln or Omaha.  She does not deserve a raise  and her contract should not be extended.  Likely some or all of her staff including her could be rationalized to be dismissed for continued underachieving coaching and recruitment of better players to be successful in the Big Ten.

PS:  NE women have lost 4 out of 5 of their first round Big Ten Tournament games.  This year they lost to Michigan 75-81 after leading at the half 42-31.  NE shot 50.9% but had fewer shots than MI.  NE had 16 turnovers versus 13 for MI.  MI had 11 steals versus 7 for NE.  NE had 9 offensive rebounds versus 19 for MI.  Whitish had 0 points on only 3 shots.

The intent was not to totally bash Whitish, just an observation on someone one would expect to score .  On a positive note she did have 5 assists for the MI game while Brown had 6 assists to lead the team.  Brown also had 22 points.  For the season Whitish had averaged 7-8 shots a game in the Big Ten and 9.9 points a game.  One would expect Whitish playing 29 minutes in the game would be more focused on getting in some position to make some shots.  Meanwhile, Brown. Whitish, and Bourne each had 3 turnovers.   Bourne also had 16 points and 5 rebounds.

She was bashed all season. Just like Simmion was the year before.

I think as has been noted for a long time she was not recruited as a pure point guard but had to play there out of necessity and did the best she could.  Not having a top notch point guard is on the coach.  She tried with a couple of transfers (Bria Stallworth and Kate Hudson) but that didn't work out partially due to injuries and then we recruit a potentially good one in Makenzie Helms and the injury bug bites again.

coach always confirmed Whitish played outta position. that's on recruiting........but, imo they had to go with who wanted to become huskers.

Then why bash a player, that is playing out of position? wonder who you all will pick to bash next year.
