Yori vs. Williams

I agree that Yori was/is a better coach. Considering the program she inherited, having to have a open try out her first year because she was short players, and then to built it says a lot. Williams has not shown at this point she has what it takes. Some coaches are 4 star and some are not. I would think the jury is still out on Williams but they are getting closer to a decision. I do not think she is in danger of getting her walking papers. But she does needs to make changes to what she is doing. Does that end in staff changes? Who knows. I do think she would help this team by structuring it around the talent she has. Seems like she is trying to make the players fit her system and I do not think that always works. Her record kinds states that was well.

Case in point of trying to have players fit her system. Kate has no business trying to help on defense by the three point line and then going back to guard the middle.

You need to watch more basketball. Every big in every game goes and hedges a screen. Just watch the post and you will see it in every game.

definitely not one of Kate's strength's though----there has been a number of times a player was wide open underneath but did not take advantage. i always thought opponents would have worked on that situation. idk

It could be true. but the fact that she is being pointed out for heaging a screen when all of the post both men and women do it is not right. people need to go watch games and just watch what the post does. and they will see that the post heaging screens about 95% of the time.

Excepting Shepard's scoring average in 2016-2017,   for the William's years, 2016-2020, all top 3 scorers averages are mostly lower than in the Yori years, 2011-2016.    This more highly exhibited by the right hand column showing the Yori years mostly in the 40's for the aggregate of the top 3 scorers versus in the 30's for the Williams years.   Likely the lack of dominant scorers is a negative at end of quarter or game end situations.   It is also noted that minutes played by the top scorers is generally less in the Williams era.  High minutes played by Theriot back in the day may have been a factor with her injuries.  So this year  in the Big Ten, Brown as the leading NE scorer at 13.8 is only playing 26.7 minutes a game on average; Whitish as second leading scorer at 9.9 --30.2 minutes;  and Haiby as the 3rd leading scorer at 9.6 is only playing 26.4 minutes a game.  In the Williams years, Whitish scoring average dropped in the last 2 years from 12.3 to 11.3 to 9.9 this year in the Big Ten.   Cain was the 3rd leading scorer in 17-18 at 9.7 average a game, but dropped to 6.4 in 18-19 and improved to 8.6 for 19-20.  As reflected Brown improved to 13.8 in 19-20 from 10.2 her first year.  Haiby improved slightly from 9.3 to 9.6 in her second year.
