If this team sucks the entire year why does anything think that next year when we probably return most of the same players it will be significantly better?

Because while a lot of those players may return, we're also adding new players to the mix and some significant ones in our area of glaring area of weakness. And we're also not done recruiting. With two open spots, I have hope they'll be able to fill those spots with players they didn't have to scramble to get just to have a full-ish roster.

I probably should have used the phrase "massive improvement" as opposed to "significant imrprovement" because while I think you're right that we will improve and that it likely will be significant, I'm not sure it will enough to match 'THE VISION'.   'THE VISION' is that Iowa St was not great their first year under Hoiberg and then went to make the tournament the next year so this will happen at Nebraska.  We will see how this team ends but right now it looks significantly worse than Hoiberg's first ISU team.

I don't think this is much of a sell but I would not root for us to set the standard for poor teams at Nebraska this season. 😎

Disagree.  He uses stats and facts.  Sure  it comes across as negative, but the football team sucked.  Hard to put much positve considering the past 20 years.  So when these stats and facts get pushed out more it can seem negative but its reality.  I dont need someome to try to push sunshine on me when its raining.  He is snarky at times but I think people take that too seriously cause they are frustrated over the state of the program.  But i think he puts things in perspective.  Im sure im in the minority though.

Let's see what happens with the guys sitting out.

One of our biggest, most glaring weaknesses is rebounding. My guess is three of the best rebounders on the team are sitting out as transfers.

Another glaring weakness is shooting and, well … we have three of our best rebounders sitting out as transfers.

Another glaring weakness (and has been since the time of Moses) is our free throw shooting.  How are these three that are sitting out as transfers at Free Throw shooting (or maybe you are including free throws as part of just a general shooting package)?

ok..follow up questions...I get that Free Throw Shooting is not a MAJOR factor...but what does it take to recruit someone who can shoot a free throw.  Why is it so hard to get players that can make those shots?

I think it is a decent bet all three sitting will start next year unless Drago really improves. Add the JC guys improving like most do it should give us hope.

no chance, he uses stats sometimes and only when it fits his narrative. Most of the time it’s his own crap opinions to get clicks or a personal vendetta. Like he obviously has against Pelini. Regardless if you liked Bo or not, it is not debatable, there are facts out there supporting that. That was just cheap shots at my school. I will agree he does decent on human interest stories but as a sports writer he sucks, mostly because he doesn’t know crap about playing sports.

“Opinions to get clicks” is the job of each and every newspaper columnist in the country. Why single Dirk out for this?

Because his act hurts my school, he is a troll. Do not see any other local reports stir things up and make it tougher on our coaches like he does. He is already starting on Frost too.

Because his act hurts my school, he is a troll. Do not see any other local reports stir things up and make it tougher on our coaches like he does. He is already starting on Frost too.

How does it hurt your school?  You know what hurts your school? Winning 9 games in 2 years.  Being a dumpster fire for 20 plus years.  But cause the reporter explains the struggles with stats and facts it hurts them.  Not the coaching, not the players, not the admin, the writer does.  Ive read that before and people need to get a life of they find joy in attacking a reporter for the programs woes

@coughunter you seem to take things regarding Dirk Chatelian oddly personal.  Remember when you started this thread?  You know, the one where you called out local sports writers and their perceived slights against Nebraska hoops in their twitter feeds?

Does anyone else find it extremely annoying that Brian Rosenthal, Lee B, and Kent Walgamont continue to bash Nebrasketball via twitter or chats all the time?  I mean seriously, i'm not saying you have to be the Husker sports network but the snarky comments all the time get a little old and annoying.  And why does a movie critic get press credentials to a NCAA basketball game?

Interestingly enough, when others joined in to say, "yeah and how about that Dirk Chatelain guy?  He tweets some pretty snarky stuff too..." you all of a sudden were ready to go to war defending his honor.

Why was that I wonder?

really? Don’t you think it makes a coaches job harder to recruit and keep focus when a certain media hack is constantly attacking him and trying to turn the public against him? You must be related if you see nothing wrong with what is outlined in that blog. I never said he caused any of the losses or the big issues we face. However he is trying to make it worse and there are a lot of people who take issue with that. Then he cries about losing subscribers, wonder why.

Cause i used to care creeper.  Now i have changed my thoughts especially after the fb team and everyone blaming media.  That was six years ago and now I have matured and realized the product on the field or on the floor is to blame not what some media member says.

Not related whatsoever.  Never even met the person.  No I dont think its makes hardwe for a coach. If a coach focuses on what the media says then thats an issue.  Again, dont think Dirk is against the program or coaches.

You just seem to get weirdly defensive about Dirk for some reason.  It's odd, is all.

People can hammer Sipple or McKewon or Rosenthal on here (justifiably or not) and it's crickets from you, but one mention of Dirk and you fly off the handle.

You're right that sports teams, coaches and players are not above criticism, but that goes doubly so for journalists.  They are given a huge platform to voice their thoughts/opinions and with that privilege (and make no mistake it IS a privilege) comes responsibility, mostly to maintain some kind of integrity, and hopefully objectivity.  But just because Dirk feeds your own personal confirmation bias, doesn't necessarily mean he is above reproach.

Personally I don't really care what you or anyone else thinks about local journalists, and it only took me about 2 or 3 minutes to sift through your 217 posts on here, so believe me it took very little effort to discover that you have a long-standing beef with any criticism of Dirk.  Also, that you really worry a lot about parking and have a pretty strong dislike for Runza.  But if this most recent outburst of yours hadn't happened, I wouldn't have even bothered to do that.
