A quick stat check as we end the first month of the season and move on to sterner challenges (though every game is a challenge with this bunch).

There are 350 teams in NCAA Division I.

  • FG Percentage Offense — 45.2 percent (129th in Division I)
  • 3-point FG Percentage Offense — 34.2 percent (143rd)
  • FT Percentage — 57.6 percent (344th)
  • Rebound Differential — minus-13.5 (349th) Take THAT, Mississippi Valley State!
  • FG Percentage Defense — 41.3 percent (158th)
  • 3-point FG Percentage Defense — 29.9 percent (104th)
  • Assist-Turnover Ratio — plus-1.14 (100th)

Interesting considering that Fred’s specializes in offense.  However, I’d be interested to see how these numbers have evolved from game 1 to now.

After two games, NU was shooting in the mid-30s as far as field goal shooting, which had to be in the bottom 10 in the country. So, hey, at least that figure has bumped up to 45% !!

Ughhh...the good news is that, realistically, we have nowhere to go but up ---- right?

Mississippi Valley State will get through their payday games and start playing SWAC opponents so their margin might get better. Nebraska will start playing conference games in the most physical league in the country. So....

It's like the first PT test when you go to basic. Set the bar low so you can show lots of improvement. 😁

except get put on a diet and no more cherry cobbler for you. I live for that stuff in basic. If I had a sign made, it would read, "will run 2 mile in under 13 for desert".

353

Not doubting, but the NCAA team stats pages list only 350 in each category. For example, in FT percentage, you see this on page 7, where each page lists 50 teams. There is not page 8. And that's true of every stat. Who's worse than St. Louis in FT percentage? I don't know. Either nobody or three other teams. It's hard to imagine worse than 51 percent, but ...

So to understand my stats post (out of 350), it's of the 350 listed. I don't know where we rank if you add in the other three teams.
