Have any other Big Ten teams announced non-con games, or did we go first with our MTE?

I'd say about half the teams have set games on their schedules that don't include the B1G-ACC challenge.  We're hosting the event but at this point we don't officially have any other non-con games except for Georgia Tech. The initial scuttle was us playing Cleveland St and Okie St, two teams that will no longer be coming to Lincoln.

Just decided to stop being lazy and answer my own question. 😄 Looks like it's all over the map - some teams have announced a handful of games, some have announced none, other than ACC Challenge game. Most places that have recent articles regarding schedules are mentioning a 20-game league schedule with a few of those occurring before Jan. 1, but even that has not yet been finalized.

The only coach I can find who has spoken in the past few days is Howard at Michigan yesterday.

“We have some teams in place but we haven’t had any set dates that have been committed to at this moment,” Howard said.

As far as NU-bluejays, here's what Shatel said this morning:

As for Creighton-Nebraska, it’s still on hold, Rasmussen said. The Huskers’ schedule is expected to be released later this week, and Rasmussen said, “Nothing is finalized yet but we’re close.”

EDIT: By the way, Big Ten hockey has half a schedule released and actually starts playing Friday at campus sites, so I guess they've worked out those protocols. Big Ten released the hockey schedule Nov. 5 and starts play Nov. 13, so that was an 8-day heads-up.

They are playing conference only for the first half of the schedule, other than adding Arizona St to get to 8 teams. ASU agreed to follow all of the Big Ten protocols. (It has been rumored since Notre Dame joined Big Ten for hockey to make 7 teams that ASU eventually would also join to get to 8, so this may be the first step.)

Back half of the schedule and hockey tournament info will be released at a later date.

Playing conference-only in hockey seems to be the norm - UNO just announced its full hockey schedule, and it will be conference only, starting Dec. 1 with a bubble in Omaha with all 8 NCHC conference teams that lasts through Dec. 20. Then they'll play at campus sites over the back half of the schedule with travel limited as much as possible.

not that it will affect us this year, but it will next year...Michigan just signed their second 5* dude in like a week.  Juwan Howard is on a roll:

The 2021 Michigan freshman class will have two 5* guys, three 4* guys and one 3*.  By far and away the best class in the country.

(it has been noted that Diabate may never make it to campus, but rather go straight to the NBA)

That last sentence is the key, and its something coaches recruiting 5 stars have to aware of. While its nice to get "commits" from them, if they never show up to campus what's the good? It's a tricky game to play

Diabate may not make it to Ann Arbor at all, but it is expected that the rest of that class will, and that should still be good enough for the best class in the Big Ten if not the country.

It's a challenge all blue bloods will have to deal with for sure due to professional options. Any school should hold their breath any time they land a top 100 player.

From World Herald:

NU should have more clarity on its schedule — both for the nonconference “Golden Window” event held in Lincoln and whatever slate the Big Ten has in store — by Friday.

Well, nothing still from the B1G, but Illinois has announced multiple games in its non-con:

Illinois MTE

Nov. 25 - Illinois vs. North Carolina A&T

Nov. 26 - Illinois vs. Wright State

Nov. 27 - Illinois vs. Ohio

Dec. 2 - Jimmy V Classic vs Baylor

Dec. 8 - ACC Challenge at Duke

Dec. 12 - at Missouri

Article says Illinois will add one more non-con game, so that would indicate B1G is planning a 20-game conference schedule as expected.

If Nebraska were to play 3x in the Golden Window, then there is only a total of 2 more openings (assuming Creighton is still on the table) as Ga Tech is the B1G/ACC opponent already. That makes 7 (w/ CU-NU).

If you look at Creighton's schedule really the only open early spot is between Kansas (Tues, Dec 8th) and Marquette (Monday, Dec 14th) Splitting the difference would be Friday, Dec, 11th. We have a game vs GT on Wed, Dec 9th so either Friday or Saturday.

Their conference schedule only goes to Dec 23rd. Depending on what we have going on maybe we can also jam it in there on Dec 26th or so

Caught Robin Washut on Gary Sharp Show today - he says NU's early non-con schedule includes

  • McNeese
  • Nevada (in MTE)
  • San Francisco (in MTE)

Then Ga Tech and Creighton, which leaves 2 more games. He says those 2 games are basically set, but NU doesn't want to release them until the B1G schedule is out.

We already know that Nevada is playing W. Kentucky on 11/25.  According to their schedule their other game is 11/26 so that must be when they are playing us.

Seems like we'll either take on the Dons on Saturday or Sunday.

Should've known better, but I was kind of expecting some sort of pod scheduling or more dates in the late Dec/early Jan time frame and fewer games the final few weeks to try to give time for rescheduling if pauses are needed. Something complicated that could explain why this took so long.

However, it looks like a pretty typical schedule to me, other than we only have one game the final week instead of the typical two.

Have absolutely no idea why it took this long to put out this schedule.

Ultimately, just happy to have a schedule, because the longer this took, the more I was afraid the B1G would try to follow the lead of the Ivy League again.
