I know Mr Basketball writer thinks he’s being “funny” but you could say the same thing about 4-5 B1G rosters...

Cassius Winston is the only B1G basketball player I can name (aside from our guys)... but I also only really follow Nebrasketball.

I also have this problem until I see this year's Lindy's magazine. It is because almost all of the undergraduates who are memorable go to the pros (like Mr. Roby). Maybe this trend will cease, at least in California, if their new law prevails-and maybe here too if Ernie Chambers gets his way.

About that...

The last-place prediction is no surprise, but the snarky comment (this guy oozes snark, I know) isn't called for. Don't know any players on the team? Fine. Neither do most of your readers, most likely. Here's an opportunity as a media publication to maybe, oh, I don't know, maybe ... inform?

Pretty pathetic comment by that writer. I'm fine being picked last. But that's pretty lazy and unprofessional. I suppose it would have killed him to mention two of the Top 10 JUCO players in the nation coming in...

By the way, in 8 years in the Big Ten, Nebraska has NEVER finished last. I have no reason to think Fred Hoiberg's team is going to be the first to do so.

Fred's first team at ISU finished last in the Big 12 so nothing is impossible.

Our team is more talented than his first team.  Our talent is somewhere between his first and second teams at ISU.  I also think he has a better supporting cast in terms of coaching.  I'm not saying we won't finish last, but I would be really, really surprised if we don't make a least a little bit of noise on our home court throughout the season.

2011 season was a pretty agonizing for Iowa State it seems.

Check out their roster for that season.  It was a hell of a coaching job to finish with a top 70 RPI in the regular season that year.  I think Fred has more to work with this year, and probably an equally brutal conference.
