France in U18 FIBA European Championships

Recommended Posts

Here is the game

He plays Q1 6:13 to Q2 9:18

Q3 10:00 to 5:35

Q4 :50

He's #0 (that's a picture of him shooting before you hit play on the video)

He got call for an unsportsmanlike for falling over a guy trying to block a shot but it looked a lot more awkward than intentional.

He seems comfortable guarding guys on the perimeter and seems like he runs the court well. Both his shot attempts were good looks that just didn't fall. Had a ball where he was posting up, didn't have a shot, and threw it out to an open teammate across court instead of forcing it. His role seemed to be mover/blocker so I wouldn't expect a lot of scoring from him unless the French feel like pounding the ball inside some game is a key or if he gets fed on the break.  Doesn't look explosive at all and disappointing in terms of his rebounding ability. Not real quick.

Most of his minutes came when the game was yet to be decided though if Fiba rank means anything Slovenia is so-so. We'll see how he looks tomorrow and how much PT he gets vs a higher rated Greece

This kid’s gonna be scary good with some “real” coaching, playing with better teammates & just natural maturation (ie man muscles) We need to remember he’s not even 18, won’t be surprised if he gets the most buzz coming out of Italy 🇮🇹

problem is we need him to be scary good in 3 months from now. or at least good enough to defend and rebound.

France defeats Slovenia 66-52 in first game of pool play.

Yvan Ouedraogo's line:

  • 12.2 minutes
  • 0 points
  • 0-2 from field
  • 1 rebound (offensive)
  • 2 fouls
  • minus-4 +/-

Diabate with 13 points, 8 rebounds

Begarin with 15 points, 4 rebounds

Gauzin with 13 points

This is going to reinforce my wish that he would have joined his new program here and gotten started acclimating to the American game rather than "one last hurrah" with his French U18 buddies.

Lots to like about Yvan in the Latvia video.

He’s a tough and quick defender—can control his man, both down low and out front.

He’s a load for defenders in the post with the ball in his hands—moves well to create an opening and still finds the open man with a good pass.

I wonder if we'll offer Drago's teammate Moussa Diabate....6'10" class of 2021 kid with a lot of hops and hands.

Ah...he's the 12th rated Rivals kid for 2021.

BTW Matt A went over there.

Keep an eye out for an offer to Daniel Batcho http://www.verbalcommits.com/players/daniel-batcho

Help me understand: a 12th rated Rivals kid and a B1G recruit on the same team are in a tight game against Wisconsin’s JV team?  How can this be?
