Exactly. They certainly have the talent on the roster to justify some pre-season recognition. Whether they live up to it or not probably determines whether Chambers is still employed at this time next year.

Been there.  Done that.

They bring back PF Lamar Stevens, C Mike Watkins, SG Myles Dread, PG Jamari Wheeler, and C John Harrar so it's a solid bunch that performed well enough. Also returns SG/PG Myreon Jones (inconsistent freshman but put up several double digit scoring games)

They have some major losses in lockdown G/F Josh Reaves (Grad) and PG Rasir Bolton (could shoot)

They add

  • St Bon transfer Izaiah Brockington (shot 40% from 3 in limited minutes though his FT numbers were poor)
  • Former Indiana/Okie St player Curtis Jones (not a great shooter)
  • 4 star SF Seth Lundy from Roman Catholic in Philly (this is the powerhouse school that produced guys like Tony Carr and Lamar Stevens)

In general this will probably be a Penn St team that is as good defensively as they have been and in theory the returning guys and their chemistry could lead to better offense. Gonna need Stevens to shoot better or else have someone step up besides Dread.  Point Guard situation seems tenuous...perhaps Jones takes that over.

Seems like most every Penn St team where the analytics say that they have guys are good and the results on the floor are them not having enough offense to win enough games. If one of the new guys can light up the scoreboard they could be real good.

Thanks for the breakdown, dimes. Looks like I am the one who didn't spend any time paying attention to who all PSU added/didn't subtract.

I knew they lost the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year in Josh Reaves, and I thought Watkins was 'out' for medical reasons, but apparently not.

If they are going to start using it again, why not take the time to fix the one sleeve thing?  Does this fall under the job description of the new assistant AD for basketball and donor glad-handing?

While it's true that the sleeve thing is a little annoying maybe it's best to let that sleeping dog lie.  You email the athletic department and tell them they oughta fix it and next thing you know the marketing department is getting involved and tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars are getting spent and you end up with some generic piece of shit like this:

Yeah, that looks like a sweatband on Herbie's left bicep. haha

(I know it's simply left over from the "football Herbie" rolled up sleeves.)

Ugh. That Herbie was created in a focus group gone off the rails similar to this example...

On a scale of 1-10, I’ll take Lil’ Red 10 outta 10 times over that “abomination” there on the bottom...

Well, it was Steve Pederson who helped to create that freakish abomination during his tenure as A.D. from 2002-07. That dude is probably on an island somewhere laughing, and countin' the coin he's collected.

It's not like there aren't folks trained in design on campus who wouldn't help them come up with something better, but they probably got "Drunk Randy Travis" by shopping it out on a six-figure contract.

By the way, "Drunk Randy Travis" could probably just be shortened to "Randy Travis."

You guys have it all wrong, Herbie was ahead of the curve.  That is either a shooting sleeve on his right arm, or he is wearing a long sleeve shirt with a sweat band on the bicep.   Looks like the kids on those AAU films that are on here...🙃🙃🙃🙃😛

247 Sports. He's rated a 0.9454 4-Star recruit, just behind Watson's 0.9692 rating and ahead of Thomas Allen at 0.9429.

He's the 2nd highest rated recruit we've signed in lifetime of the 247/Scout database.

Both Donavon Williams and DeAndre Davis are ranked higher!

A-freaking-MEN!  There are countless examples of this in the sports world.  There are consultants making so much money just shopping the same generic designs from college to college (and pro) teams in the last 10 years.   In some cases, a "refresh" is needed, I will admit that.  But there are some seriously "unique" designs being thrown away for a mascot.jpg clip art and it sickens me

These are just the other in-state examples in the last few years:
