Navin R. Johnson Posted July 16, 2019 Report Posted July 16, 2019 Jon Rothstein @JonRothstein Former Marquette wing Haanif Cheatham shining here at Nebraska. Good passer and a capable shooter. A potential Glue Guy to monitor in 19-20. HolyBobpilgrimage 1 Quote
Handy Johnson Posted July 16, 2019 Report Posted July 16, 2019 Sip & Jake rattled off a pre-season B1G poll this morning that had us at 12 & I believe MN @ 13. Also recall Penn St listed @ 5... sight unseen with this roster it’s hard to make ANY type of guess, but 12 seems like underselling the talent level straight up, and how it compares to the other rosters... And how exactly is PSU supposed to be within the top 5 ?!?! Have they ever been in the top 5? Quote

They finished in a four way tie for fourth in 2011 finishing at 9-9. Highest B1G finish was in 1996 where they tied for second with Indiana. Edited July 16, 2019 by uneblinstu AuroranHusker 1 Quote
Handy Johnson Posted July 16, 2019 Report Posted July 16, 2019 Well, whenever we’re picked 13th we finish 4th & vice versa, even this short trip to Italy will begin to fill in some of the big picture... jayschool, Norm Peterson and NUtball 1 2 Quote

Handy Johnson Posted July 17, 2019 Report Posted July 17, 2019 (edited) We also have the sad distinction of being the only team in B1G history to finish 4th and NOT make the Dance That might define Nebraska Basketball in a nutshell. BUT the “little engine that could” days, the NIT road games, the endless “Bubble watches” those will soon be part of a bygone era of Husker Hoops. Someday soon many of us will sit courtside somewhere & watch our Huskers advance DEEP into an NCAA tournament & become once and for all a “Basketball School” too... Handy Johnson Posted July 17, 2019 Report Posted July 17, 2019 Au contrere’ Mon frere, we held the tie breaker over 5th place Michigan... that’s how it was seeded in the B1G tourney. Quote

They bring back PF Lamar Stevens, C Mike Watkins, SG Myles Dread, PG Jamari Wheeler, and C John Harrar so it's a solid bunch that performed well enough. Also returns SG/PG Myreon Jones (inconsistent freshman but put up several double digit scoring games) They have some major losses in lockdown G/F Josh Reaves (Grad) and PG Rasir Bolton (could shoot) They add St Bon transfer Izaiah Brockington (shot 40% from 3 in limited minutes though his FT numbers were poor) Former Indiana/Okie St player Curtis Jones (not a great shooter) 4 star SF Seth Lundy from Roman Catholic in Philly (this is the powerhouse school that produced guys like Tony Carr and Lamar Stevens) In general this will probably be a Penn St team that is as good defensively as they have been and in theory the returning guys and their chemistry could lead to better offense. Gonna need Stevens to shoot better or else have someone step up besides Dread. Point Guard situation seems tenuous...perhaps Jones takes that over. Seems like most every Penn St team where the analytics say that these guys are good and the results on the floor are them not having enough offense to win enough games. If one of the new guys can light up the scoreboard they could be real good. AuroranHusker and Shawn Eichorst's Toupee 2 Quote

Whether they live up to it or not probably determines whether Chambers is still employed at this time next year. jayschool 1 Quote
