My Evaluation:

-Not an elite athlete from an explosion perspective. Certainly can dunk and finish around the rim - but we're not talking Roby or something like that.

-Throwback post player with elements and skills of a modern swing 4/5.

-Undersized as a 5, but will be really pesky to guard for other 5s. Not athletic enough to be considered a Roby 4, but skilled enough in all areas to exploit mismatches against 3's and 4's.

-Great ball handler for his build. Can start fast breaks and has good vision - which reminds me of Draymond.

-Fats ya down and uses good moves, which reminds me of Zach Randolph.

-Currently a "sloppy body all-american." Team co-captains have always been ZRandolph and Paul Pierce.

-Perfect fit for positionless basketball and our system.

-Videos I've seen have not shown him against particularly elite competition - might not be ready to play right away.

Type of Player: Michigan State player

Reminds me of: Parts of Zach Randolph and parts of Draymond Green

Who would've thought Year 1 we'd have just TOO many good players? Fred's cup runneth over now what? I thought fer sure Arop would see legit minutes next season but who knows? If Roby returns this roster will certainly be more talented overall than last year. Not at the top end necessarily but depth wise. Super excited to see how this all sorts itself out!

Two months ago I was penciling Jervay in as a 20 point scorer.  I now think the number is closer to 14.  Maybe even 12.  We look to have some real options so we won’t need someone to play hero ball.

This kid could be the next Andre Smith (has to work on his sideburns). More importantly who might Redshirt, Jace, Charlie? I’m assuming Cross & Drago will play... like others have said, just WOW ?

I don’t think you redshirt anyone that’s not a walk-on or because of injury.

Fred will want to improve the roster and recruit over guys. Redshirting them only keeps them around longer.

I'm waiting to see the tweet from Husker Hoops giving us his height and weight. Really curious how they say he compares in size to Ouedraogo.

He's nowhere near as explosive as Roby, but someone compared him to Jeriah Horne, and I think he's as skilled as Horne and more explosive as well.

As far as sloppy body, yeah, he's that. Would love to see what added explosiveness we could get out of him with some hard work in strength and conditioning.  See him drop 15# of fat and add 10# of muscle and play at 235# as a freshman? He could probably handle that between now and August.

I think he's way better than the unranked, no-Rivals profile, still-available-in-May impression some people have of him. There's still some work to do, but he has skills.  I'd say in terms of size, skills and explosiveness, he's no worse than Michael Jacobson was as a freshman, and MJ was a starter here. In fact, I think he's probably a bit more skilled than MJ, and every bit as big and athletic at the same age.

Edited: I thought he was 230#.  I think he's being described as 240#, so my math on how much fat lost plus muscle gained to get to a 225# playing weight was off.  Corrected to make it 235#, although I think 225# would be better for him, so maybe lose even more fat.

Jared Dudley has earned a spot on that “sloppy body all-american” squad. Brian Scalabrine comes to mind, as well.

I’ve been refreshing our Huskers.com roster all day too, Norm. I’m gonna guess he’s listed at 6’8” 245.

This sort of made me laugh...it doesn't happen very often in our neck of the road, that we need a player to lose weight.  Maybe a handful in the past ten years?

I can think of one, and he needed to lose enough to count for quite a few. Won’t name names, but it rhymed with “schmal-schmay-duh”.

Horne 2.0 seems like a pretty good comp

Preposterous! What kind of absolute moron would make such an utterly ridiculous player comp?

Wait, what??
