Huskers (19-17) (6-14) (2-1) (1-1) KenPom ranking #47 @4/8/19

Huskers started @ Pre-Season #38 KemPom, Rising to #11 @ 1/15/19, an all-time high for the Huskers, Finishing-up at just about the starting point. The previous KenPom high was #34 during the 2014/15 season (following the prior NCAA Tournament season. #34 tied the prior high for the 2010/11 season under Doc Sadler).  The decline from #11 in mid-January resulted from a prolonged, team-wide shooting slump, and season-ending injury to Sr. Isaac Copeland. Huskers won their final regular season game, two B1G Tournament Games, and one NIT match, despite suiting up only 8 players, by game-winning contributions from bench and walk-on players. IT'S BEEN A WILD RIDE!!! :Woohoo2:

On March 26, 2019, the University announced Head Coach Tim Miles would not be retained because of the lack of a consistent level of success over his 7 year tenure. Coach Miles guided the Huskers to a 19-17 record in 2018-19, and finished his Nebraska career with a 116-114 record in his seven seasons at the helm. He coached the Huskers to one NCAA Tournament appearance (2014) and two trips to the NIT (2018, 2019). Miles helped Nebraska to a pair of fourth-place finishes in the Big Ten Conference, but the Huskers finished 10th or lower in the league standings five times.

Statement from Coach Tim Miles:
“Thank you to the University of Nebraska for a remarkable journey. It was a great honor to represent this University the past seven years. I am extremely proud of what we were able to accomplish during my tenure, most notably developing relationships with so many fantastic people associated with the Huskers.

“A special thank you and deep gratitude to our players and parents who have been with us and supported us over the years. Thanks to our coaches, legends, alumni and to all of the support staff who interact with our program on a daily basis and made the experience one I will always cherish.

“To the fans, students and supporters who make Pinnacle Bank Arena such an incredible venue, much respect and thank you as well.

“My family will always be cheering for the Huskers and look forward to seeing #Nebrasketball make history in the near future. GBR!”

It wasn't yet. You have to wonder how many times in the last 7 years Miles has been kicking himself staying at Colorado St for one more year with that team that very likely puts him as a serious candidate to take over the Minnesota job.

Scary thought of the day:  who would Eichorst have hired to replace Miles?

In the Mike Riley vein, it would be a coach who had some success in the middle part of his career but is on a downward trajectory at the twilight of said career.

I will go with Ernie Kent.
