i would tend to believe there are at least a couple schools listed that are a single choice (only vb or only bb)---where there are a number of schools where she could choose to play either sport.

hmmm...?

That she's even here is huge.

UNL would be a great school for her.  Fairly close geographically...and maybe the biggest reason...she might be able to play both sports.

Hell no, I ain't to proud......Lauren...this is the school for you !!  The team and the fans... know who you are, waiting with baited breath.. and you'll achieve great success here....easily.

from reading about Ware on the volleyball site, if i read it correctly Ware would have to take a basketball schollie. would be a "freebie" for Cook and the volleyball program. stated it would be up to coach williams if she wanted to use a schollie on a player she most likely wouldn't see till mid-late December. without looking at schedules, guessing coach williams wouldn't see her for preseason games. whatever, huskers can't pass this athlete up if she should choose Nebraska!

I don't know for a fact, but wouldn't basketball take priority, if on a BBall scholarship?  Seems like volleyball would be the "as time permits" sport.

It would be up to both coaches and Ware to work out her overall schedule (practice/ games/travel...etc etc)...for best of all concerned.

May be completely wrong, but kind of doubt Cook would take second fiddle, no matter who has ....officially... the scholarship.

Certainly a unique situation for all..... but a nice problem for basketball.

Why would Coach Williams put a player on basketball scholarship and then only get a part time basketball player while Coach Cook gets a full time VB player without burning a scholarship?    How about Cook gets her until November 1st, then she's basketball.  We will see how it works wherever she goes.

Cause this is how it worked last time, also basketball needs the player volleyball is loaded enough.  Make no mistake this will be full time vball and part time bball on a basketball scholarship.  Oh that includes summer work outs etc...... If you doubt that go to Greicha ( All-American setter non starter on the basketball court.)

no idea if it is correct, but, this is the comment made on the nebraska vb site:

"Yes; Women's basketball is a higher tier sport over Women's volleyball. If you play both sports during the same academic year, and your on an 'athletic scholarship', then you are a basketball 'counter' only! - A freebie for volleyball."

Yeah and Greisha Lee Cepero was worthless as a basketball player.  And Ware would be disruptive of the team unity built up over the 2.5 months she would be playing Vb instead of bb.

Greichaly Cepero was a Pettit recruit.  She was a true freshman when Pettit coached his final season at NU.  She was also here on a Volleyball scholarship, so naturally that was going to take precedence to Basketball.  Therefore comparing Ware's potential situation to Cepero's is moot.

Cook already has his recruiting pieces in place through 2022.  In other words, he has no scholarships available until then.  Another thing to consider too is that Ware was never on his recruiting radar over the past few years.  Otherwise Ware would've gotten an offer when she was a freshman or sophomore.  Cook likes to offer them early when he can.  That's his M.O.

Cook's not the bad guy here.  It sounds like Ware approached Cook about the possibility of playing both sports on a B-ball scholarship.  Cook doesn't need her, but he'd take her on the condition that Coach Williams allowed it.  Since the ESPN article already mentioned that "they've already mapped out her schedule" it's likely that both Williams and Cook already have a potential agreement in place, whatever that entails.

So if Williams and Cook are okay with whatever agreement is in place for Ware, then that's all that really matters here.  It's not worth tearing down one program to try to boost up the other.  Cook's not a dictatorial type.  Every player that has ever asked for a transfer from Nebraska volleyball to another school was allowed to leave and play without sitting out a year at their new school.  Cook has said in the past that he doesn't believe in blocking a former player's scholarship if she wanted to leave for another school without having to sit for a year.

Remember Briana Holman?  LSU's coach blocked Holman's scholarship so that she had to sit out her first year when she transferred to Nebraska in 2015 when we won the national title.  Russ Rose from Penn St. did the same thing  to Jessica Yanz when she transferred to Nebraska from Penn St in 2008.  Cook has never done this to a former Husker transfer.

I can guarantee you Cook will not force Ware to play a full season of volleyball if she doesn't want to.  That's certainly not his style.  If anything, she'll be a terrific practice player for the volleyball team if she chooses to play a full season of basketball instead of volleyball.

I do not think anyone is tearing down coach Cook or NU volleyball. He has advanced NU the volleyball program he got from coach Pettit to a top three power house.   All the applause in the world for that.

The nature of the beast is what the combat is here.  Or do you really think UConn basketball would take a hit for their volleyball program.  That is what we are talking about here ( The program vs. a program).   If any of that was misconstrued, my appologies.
