Roster Attrition

Recommended Posts

If we can keep Harris, Davis, Burke, heiman, and one of roby or Allen that atleast gives you some hope.  Probably talk to trueblood or borchardt about comin back if interested. Get akenten outta here. Robin said on 590 that he hasn’t been around the team in weeks prior to the end of the year. Robin mentioned that arop, Adams, Williams didn’t seem as upset as green and Davis about miles being fired. Hopefully retain those first three guys.  Whoever the next coach is will likely have a minimum of 5 scholarships to fill

Green seemed like he was going to be the next James Palmer in a Miles offense.

We'll see if he can still be sold as the focal point of this offense

Anything you think or assume might happen, you can throw right out the window. Now I hear Hoiberg is luke warm on Nebraska & we’ve been in touch with the Bradley coach.

Just in case it's not crystal clear this is a made up rumor. I assume it's purposely bad so it wouldn't be taken seriously.

Would like to keep at least 4 of our projected guards though 3 wouldn't be a disaster

Burke

Allen

Harris

Adams

Green

Green

Burke

Adams

Allen

Harris

That's my order of preference, mainly due to taller guards who can shoot as likely deemed most important. Nothing against T.A. in particular, other than he's a fairly short 2-guard in Div. 1.

NU can find forwards who can slash & create havoc. If Amir Harris could put on 35# he'd be that type of forward. I wouldn't be opposed to Harris being a rebound/defensive specialist as a forward.

But he reminds me of a skinnier version of a bunch of dudes NU has had who couldn't shoot worth a lick. Yes, they played really good D & all that. The next coach places a premium on shooting the long-ball. Bulk up Amir, we're gonna need ya to bang around for rebounds with some 230# dudes !! ?

Added weight would help.. I don't know what it is but I just think he is a diamond that just needs to be polished up a bit.

By yer Senior year in College, even if you CAN come back, most young men are ready to move on. Think of yourself at that age, I couldn’t wait to get out of school. Now of course I’d give my right arm to play  one year of College basketball ?

College was awesome, the "real world" can wait. JPJ came back & he ended up breaking a school record for single-season in scoring.

Each game they would pry have a good segment about you being the first one armed player.  Show your parents in the stands etc. Would be a nice little bit of color commentary.

Tanner played 1-min as a SOPH (possible waiver, maybe?!).

I know this is highly unlikely, but I think if Tanner did want to live it up one more year on campus and could get a waiver and you are the new coach he is automatically one of the scholarships you hand out. Dude showed me he can bang and knows his role. I will take one more year of that.

To add I'll take him and a year older Brady as our bigs next year. All day.

Johnny had 1 more year of eligibility and Tanner played 1-min as a SOPH (possible waiver, maybe?!).

Correct. Trueblood could play another year if he chooses to do so (junior eligibility wise) but i believe he is graduating in May, which is why he is listed as a senior.

Borchardt could prob get a  waiver for another year (i never understand how ot why the NCAA does what it does, so who knows). Both would prob be interested if a scholarship is involved. Neither would be interested as a walk on i assume.

Depending on how much roster attrition occurs, maybe theres rooms for both? If the next HC keeps the roster intact im gonna go out on a limb and say both staying isnt an option. Gotta go with Tanner in that case bc he fills a major need.

Agreed on Tanner as a schollie; NU needs B1G dudes. And if Trueblood wants to stick around as a walk-on, I'd imagine Hoiberg would love to have a dude like Johnny around.
