Kissy-poo H.S. cheerleader Jordan. ?

By the way, how's the mood in Iowa City, jay???

  • Pissed off that Penn State has made the Hawks an also-ran in wrestling.
  • Fired up about the women's tournament in Carver-Hawkeye.
  • Puzzled at how a Nebraska team with literally six recruited scholarship players could beat Fran.
  • Contemplating how much they really need Patrick McCaffery next year, or if saying goodbye to the whole family might be a good thing.
  • Preparing an "Outback Bowl Champs" banner for Kinnick Stadium

If he is holding out for another P5 job, he will be in the booth for a long time.

I'm not so sure about that. Sure, there's factors like Miles' preferences, university preferences, and the number of up-and-coming coaches coming into the picture. But just look at a couple of these current Power 5 coaches:

Tim Miles at Nebraska (7 seasons): 50.4% (40.6%)

NCAA Rd 64, NIT 2nd Rd, NIT 1st Rd

Jim Christian at Boston College (6 seasons): 38.7% (22.7%)

NIT 1st Rd

Josh Pastner at Georgia Tech (4 seasons): 49.2% (41.9%)

NIT Runner-up, Postseason ban + multiple scandals

Pat Chambers at Penn State (9 seasons): 49.7% (33.7%)

NIT Champ, CBI Quarterfinal

Wayne Tinkle at Oregon State (6 seasons): 49.2% (38.9%)

NCAA Rd 64

Frank Martin at South Carolina (8 seasons): 55.5% (46.2%)

NCAA Final Four, NIT 2nd Rd

He would have gotten a job this year but with all the Coronavirus stuff going around, not nearly as many did as normal. Of course he wants another crack at a P5 gig, but a good mid-major job will be his best bet at getting back into that game. He'll be able to get one next year. I bet there will be more jobs open than normal 10 months from now.

Let's be honest, the longer Miles is out of coaching, the harder it will be for him to land a Power 5 head coaching job.  If he goes 2 seasons without being in coaching, the more likely it is he will land at a mid major school.  I think we are all pulling for Tim as he is the coach who made it cool to be a NU basketball fan.  However, there are coaching like Craig Smith who might get a shot at a power five school before Miles will again.  Pretty ironic huh.

Not really, it's just how it works. Miles wasn't likely to get a P5 job this offseason anyway and wasn't even rumored to be a candidate for any potential openings. If he wants to get back in a P5 school, he's going to have to win again at a mid-major job.

Feel like there's some good vibes needed in here, and this game randomly crossed my mind this morning.

Still probably the craziest environment I've been in personally, (didn't get to go to no sit Sunday)

Thanks much needed today has been nuts here at school and that just made everything okay.
