i'm having fun watching the link everyday regardless of the plusses or minuses of the current system.

Doesn't hurt that we're in the current top ten.

If maryland beats virginia and michigan beats UNC, we'll have 5 teams in the top ten...  give or take.  That's absurd.  Yet oddly comforting and nice.

Probably a good way to put it in standings (after a couple minute's thought) :

Our seeding in the tournament at this point given how we look and the conference looks overall will probably be roughly what place we get in the regular season B1G.

Win it?  #1 seed

2nd?  2 seed

etc.

Give or take anyway.  Long story short is.... just bloody keep winning.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but does this mean if Selection Sunday was today, we'd be a 2 seed?

Potentially but it's not the only thing that goes into the ranking. If we're that high at the year we're absolutely looking at a 2 seed.

I personally think we'd be like a 4-6 seed if the season ended right now.

No. Just like the committee wouldn't go down the RPI rankings list in years past and seed by rank, they won't do for the NET. I agree with @hhcmatt I think we'd be in the 4-6 range if it started today.

I'd take it.  But I'd rather be a 6.  Play an 11 in the first round and then a 3/14 and then a 2/7/10/15 in the Sweet 16.

If you're a 4 or 5, you get a low seed in the first round, then the 5 or 4 before likely hitting a #1 seed in the Sweet 16.

Listen to me talk about Sweet 16s.  😄

This is a much better metric since real time rpi has us at 45.  With the old metric Lanerdi would have us on the outside looking in.

As off as the early data might be I think that is a pretty accurate cut.  I think the Big 10 gets 8 bids and that PSU and Northwestern are NIT teams.  The question is which one of those 9 drops to join them. KenPom says its Iowa, Maryland or Purdue right now.    As long as it is not us!

I have a feeling that Purdue is going to run out of gas and fizzle towards the end of the season.
