Bad feet or was transferring to a school with 5 post players a bad idea? Maybe he can grad transfer to someplace like Northern Illinois and become the next Shaq of the MAC. Quote

Red Don Posted November 16, 2018 Report Posted November 16, 2018 (edited) Whew! Ohio State Pulls it out, Wins 69-60, despite come back by Creighton in the 2nd half. Ohio State ends on a 13-0 run; Kramplj fouls out with 2 mins left. Guarantees the B1G it's first Championship in the Gavitt Games Series. (Series has resulted in 4-4 ties since inception) Edited November 16, 2018 by Red Don Quote
49r Posted November 16, 2018 Report Posted November 16, 2018 (edited) Bluejays were on cruise control until Holtmann started having his guys switch everything on defense with about 2:30 left down 60-56. After that point Ohio State finishes on a 13-0 run. For the most part though, it seemed like a pretty pedestrian effort from the Buckeyes. I expected them to win running away. Either way, good for the B1G, getting the first series win in Gavitt Games history! Penn State getting off to a great start in the nightcap. Edited November 16, 2018 by 49r Quote
Nebrasketball1979 Posted November 16, 2018 Report Posted November 16, 2018 I would prefer we not kill Creighton on this thread. Basketball is so much harder when you can't properly "acquire" talent so lets cut them some slack. Mr. Red and hhcmatt 2 Quote

kleitus Posted November 16, 2018 Report Posted November 16, 2018 ... not really part of this but looks like Iowa learned to play defense in the offseason (39-28 over #14 Oregon at half). Been a pretty good week for b1g basketball so far.... Quote
khoock Posted November 16, 2018 Report Posted November 16, 2018 I forgot Paul White plays for Oregon. Wasnt he like a done deal to Nebraska until a last minute switch up?? Will go ahead and say we got the better of the two 6'9 F transfers from Georgetown! Quote
hskr4life Posted November 16, 2018 Report Posted November 16, 2018 DePaul was picked to win the Big East right? hhcmatt 1 Quote
tcp Posted November 16, 2018 Report Posted November 16, 2018 PSU lays an egg in OT at DePaul. 5-2 with a likely Rutgers loss tomorrow. Quote

throwback Posted November 17, 2018 Author Report Posted November 17, 2018 Good thing the B1G didn't need RU to come through ... because they're not very good. RU apparently didn't get the memo that B1G teams are all supposed to show vast improvement this season over last season. 2018 Gavitt Games B1G wins series, 5-3 at Nebraska 80, Seton Hall 57 Ohio State 69, at Creighton 60 at Indiana 96, Marquette 73 Michigan 73, at Villanova 46 Wisconsin 77, at Xavier, 68 Georgetown 88, at Illinois 80 at DePaul 72, Penn St 70 (OT) St. John's 84, at Rutgers 65 Quote
hskr4life Posted November 17, 2018 Report Posted November 17, 2018 Really... another pretty good night overall for the Big 10. Really good win by Iowa and a pretty good win by Purdue. Not going to lie. The Big 10 will be a grinder this year. We may get 7-9 teams in this year. Quote

In fact, Bart Torvik shows 8 bids and 9 bids are the two most likely scenarios. There is a 91% chance that the Big Ten gets between 7 and 10 bids. Getting 9 or 10 bids would be extremely impressive. tcp Posted November 17, 2018 Report Posted November 17, 2018 Illinois had a tough draw. PSU totally blew it. They had no business losing to DePaul anywhere. Rutgers is, well, Rutgers. By and large, B1G did well, as our only stumbles were at the bottom of the conference. Everyone else middling on up did their jobs with a vengeance. All in all, a success. Quote
