2018-2019 KenPom Rankings Thread

Seems like the ACC/B1G challenge is a good time for some out of band KenPom updates.

Wisco and Purdue flip-flop.  Indiana drops five spots, Iowa drops 7.  Penn State moves up just one and Illinois in a loss moves up 7 spots!

As far as conferences go, the ACC gains a razor-thin advantage over the B1G to move back into second (for now).  But it looks like we've got a Power 3 this year and everybody else is looking up.

Ranking of conferences by averaging AdjO and AdjD of the teams

Conference Rating Conference Rating
1 Big 12 Conference +17.42 17 Southern Conference -2.12
2 Atlantic Coast Conference +16.45 18 Summit League -3.73

Not a lot of change in the non-con portion, except Oklahoma State continues to creep up, they may be in the 40's very soon.  Big game between them and Minnesota in US Bank stadium on Friday.  Okay, here we go:

After the ACC/B1G Challenge we've moved back into 2nd among conferences, which is good to see.

As for individual teams there has been some movement.  Nebraska is up to #21 now (I believe our highest ranking of the KenPom era, but I'm not sure).  A win agains Illinois could potentially push us into the teens!!!  Ohio State takes a significant tumble and Northwestern actually drops after a win.  Rutgers is getting closer to pulling out of triple digits but not yet.

Clemson and Creighton are back in the top-30, but the rest of our non-con remains pretty much unchanged.

Okay, here we go:

We're favored by 11 so it would need to be a 20+ point win to push us anywhere.  Something like a 5 point win and we drop.  This is how life works at the top.

Yeah I figured it'd have to be something like that.  Probably along with some teams in front of us losing and the ones right behind not doing anything terribly impressive.  But you're right - our position now is fairly tenuous as it is and we're more likely to drop than anything.  Plus the gap between us and KSU and ISU is pretty substantial:

I like putting W's up next to teams names.  We're still #21 but we are getting oh-so-close to cracking that top 20, our adjusted efficiency (+18.48) is just a few tenths behind KSU.

Yep... Whoever bingo is, is a Big 10 hater.  Biased polls should never be used.

Dude has Clemson as a 5 seed, yet no Nebraska. Need to take that bracket down now with that kind of bias.  I know bracket matrix isn't used by the committee, but their eyes probably look at it a time or two

Little bit of jumbling in the B1G.  Nebraska was #22 going into the game last night and drops to #24 today.  Iowa tumbles to #43 after the MSU beatdown and look at Rutgers finally pulling out of last place!

Not much change at all in the non-con portion.

That's weird...based off the reaction of some, I thought our season was effectively ended yesterday and we were about to be searching for a new coach.  Maybe Ken should shake his computer until his rankings are significantly lower for us and match the expectations of the handful that are overreacting.

Sky falling again?  AGAIN?  Oh, man, and I didn't bring my umbrella today.

So we lost a Q1 road game.  It freaking happens.  We are 1-1 in Q1 road games for those of you who are on the “can’t win a road game” train.  And it will probably happen again for everyone who takes a step toward the ledge with every loss.

Currently 1-2 in Q1 games and 6-0 everywhere else.  Not too shabby.

Just so you know, the Dec. 4 update had Minnesota at #82. A Quadrant 1 road game is 1-75. They will likely climb into that Q1 category, but at the end of the season, it's probably a Q2 loss.
