Some verbiage on the Achilles.

Just like with any other muscle, muscle tendon or ligamentous injury, Achilles tears or strains are graded on a scale of 1-3. A Grade 1 strain means that there is no or minimal tearing and typically heal in a week or two, a Grade 2 strain involves partial tearing — approximately 10-50 percent of the muscles fibers — and can take weeks to months to recover from and a Grade 3 strain is the most severe with more than 50 percent of the fibers being torn. An "Achilles rupture" is another way to describe a Grade 3 tear.

I hope there isn't a place where one can go to get "Verbiage on HB".

"Old.   Fat.  Hard of hearing.  Cataracts both eyes.   Prostate as big as a basketball.   Low T.  Screwed up back.  Something hurts everyday.  Thus, a cocktail or two everyday.  Likely redshirt candidate."

Feel bad for the kid and it’s probably one of the hardest injury’s to come back from these days but it should work out well for us. He will redshirt like we wanted a wing to do and it gives Thor or nana a chance to play. Then one will likely transfer at the end of the year. Tough way for it to happen but it should be a win win

Achilles injuries may be the worst injury you can have in basketball. 6-8 months would be optimistic I'm more concerned that he may never play at the same level he was at when he was 16. There isn't a lot of medical history lately so maybe technology has improved a lot but it could be a recovery that never fully develops. FYI this info is what I remember from podcasts when Boogie signed with the Warriors which is a very different situation and definitely not an expert or even know as much as I do about orbital or Jones fractures. #sixersproblems

It may be interesting to track Boogie Cousins recovery and play this season for Golden State.  He had a similar injury and has not yet made it all the way back yet.  He is a much bigger man, and likely plays closer to the floor, but how he moves and participates will tell a story.  There are a number of players who played after this injury, but kid you not, the recovery is tough, especially for a basketball player.

According to a 2013 medical study that identified 18 players who suffered major Achilles injuries over a 23-year span (1988-2011), seven players never returned to the league. Players who returned missed an average of 56 games and saw their PER decline in their first and second seasons back. A 2015 CBS Sports article found that among 14 players who returned from Achilles injuries since 1992, they averaged fewer minutes while both their field goal and three-point percentages dropped, on average. There are very few complete success stories.

This is for NBA players. Would have to think the odds would be better for an 18-year-old.

Doesn't appear to be very promising. Seems especially difficult for jump shooters to get back to form...?. Would probably be best if the staff starts work on finding a replacement.
