I think Illinois on the road is gonna be a tougher game actually.

What I meant was us finally moving above Maryland in something other than the Big Ten standings. The more we can separate from Maryland (on the bubble) to the selection committee, we're building a bigger and bigger case that we should be in the tournament.

Agreed. But the head-to-head has to go our way. I can see that as a huge game for our chances. If come out of that 11-4 or 10-5 in the conference with head-to-head wins against both Maryland and Michigan, we're in good shape with a 2-1 finish.

I thought we'd gotten up to 56th but now we've dropped to 60th without playing.  Big drop.  Not sure what happened.  Big wins by teams behind us?

Had some ahead of us lose, but there were some sorta-still-alive bubble teams get some huge Tier 1 wins this weekend.

up to #57, Ken still projects a 12-6 record (and 4th place finish) for us.  I'll have a full update in the morning.  But for now here's our progress in the current "Next 5 Games" stretch:

BTW, what happened to the Next 5 Games thread?  I tried finding it tonight but it seems to have disappeared.

3 team bump? I was hoping this win to get us top 50, this being the best team left on our schedule - was that too ambitious?

And Maryland stays put at #40.  No change for them after a loss, and only a 3 team jump for us after a big win...WTH?!?

Ken Pom does not take into account anything about how a team was playing when you played them correct?

I feel like we keep getting downgraded on ken Pom (and many other computer rankings) because they are just calculating how we did against a Minnesota team that no doesn't look nearly as good to the computers as it does now. Same for UCF, St. John's, and I believe a couple other teams who had injuries or suspensions.

All they can expect of us is to win the games we're playing, and we're doing that.

All we can do at this point is to win the games we play in.  So far, we're doing that.

At least to some extent we control our own destiny.  There's still enough games to be played to get us where we need to be.

Win out in the regular season (doable) and then beat Michigan in the conference tournament (also doable).

That should be enough to rest comfortably until selection Sunday.

I spoke too soon.  Checking again this morning, Maryland actually JUMPED a spot to #39.  This is stupid.
