swoof Posted August 6, 2017 Report Posted August 6, 2017 (edited) According to Robin Washut we hosted this young man from Iceland on an official visit this weekend. Edited August 6, 2017 by swoof Quote
nustudent Posted August 6, 2017 Report Posted August 6, 2017 If he can play- it's smart. You're already down 2 spots. A 3rd isn't eligible until mid December and a 4th will always be up in there as to his effectiveness from an injury. Plus it breaks up the classes. Having a class of 5 isn't ideal Quote

rwhiston Posted August 6, 2017 Report Posted August 6, 2017 (edited) Hmmmm. Intriguing his physical attributes look good and he can fill up a stat line in a lot of different ways. (Check out those steal numbers). It does look like he can disappear in games and might struggle adjusting to the level of competition, kinda like Tai did early on. But the kid has got some swagger in his game. Plus how fun would it be to hear Kent call some of his dunks?!? I'm hoping he becomes the best Icelandic athlete since Gunnar Stahl. bobcat402 Posted August 6, 2017 Report Posted August 6, 2017 Hmm very interested, that lefty stroke is smooth, plus Icelandic basketball sounds like it's burgeoning, they have a big man that some are thinking could go pro next year. http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/20149591/how-tryggvi-hlinason-went-7-foot-farmer-iceland-rare-nba-prospect would be a nice late get and as others have said is good insurance policy in case Gill can't bounce back hhcmatt 1 Quote
AuroranHusker Posted August 6, 2017 Report Posted August 6, 2017 This must be the guy that @jimmykc was talking about in early April.... very early April. jimmykc and Minnesota_Husker 2 Quote
Huskerpapa Posted August 7, 2017 Report Posted August 7, 2017 (edited) Interesting possibility. Wonder how we got wind of him? Heck, I didn't even know Icelanders even played basketball. Edited August 7, 2017 by huskercwg Quote

hhcmatt Posted August 7, 2017 Report Posted August 7, 2017 I wonder if Jason Dourisseau is the connection. He played for the same club way back in the day that Thorir plays for now. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KR_(basketball_club) Quote

khoock Posted August 7, 2017 Report Posted August 7, 2017 I read his name and thought it was a joke... He just visited correct? No offer yet. Quote
khoock Posted August 7, 2017 Report Posted August 7, 2017 This would fill Miles want for a big bodied gaurd. Ideally, i would hope Gill bounces back from his injury and rehabs well. Then we could redshirt this kid and give him a chance to adapt to American life and ball. Then again, he could be a total baller which i would also be okay with. Quote
hhcmatt Posted August 7, 2017 Report Posted August 7, 2017 It looks like he was the rookie of the year in the top Icelandic league. Was he playing there for no money to maintain his amateur status? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Úrvalsdeild_Men's_Young_Player_of_the_Year Quote

Cazzie22 Posted August 7, 2017 Report Posted August 7, 2017 Grab him if he is available. Utah looked at him. Could develop into a solid player. Norm Peterson 1 Quote
