Am I going to have to pull out the Hoosiers clip again?

THIS IS YOUR TEAM!

Thumbs-UP!

(Please let me re-phrase this:  ;)  to read:)  Critiques and criticisms notwithstanding, I'm really liking what I'm seeing!  I'm not nearly as knowledgeable as most here, But, for me.............

Reading this thread you would think the Huskers got run out ot the Gym last night, instead of losing by TWO points after missing a good chance of Winning.  Seems like criticisms abound of anything Less than Perfection!

I don't know beans about basketball, and I'm sure many can blow me out of the water for this!  BUT,  I'm really liking what I'm seeing. The offense is a lot more fun to watch than passing around until it goes to someone at the end of the clock to jack up a three. It sure is nice to see all the P-I-P (points-in-paint), (added:  our inside game is) getting to be our bread & butter; keeping us in the game, although it would be good to get a couple (more) treys when we need 'em (& more free throws; since we get so few opportunities). Not sure what the difference is this year: Talent, Lewis, maybe both? Not to downplay Michael Lewis' contributions but my vote goes to Talent as the biggest factor.

Defense is stellar; again holding opponents to well-below their scoring averages; keeping us in games. Jordy is going to be a force! (and fun to watch - come to think of it there are a lot of players that are fun to watch :)) Not sure what's up with all the fouls. We do have a coach known for his defense; it's hard to think we foul twice as much as Every team we play.

This team has a Future; maybe even this year! :)

He is 4-26 in his career (.154).  He isn't a 3-point shooter.  Good form on a shot doesn't make it within a player's range.  Defenses give him the space because he hasn't shown he can make them.

...and therein lies the problem.  He has to shoot them in order to prove he can.  If he does not shoot (and make them) defenses are going to sag and the lane will be more congested than a New York city street.  I can guarantee all that wonders, MJ would not be shooting them if the coaches did not know he could make them.  Coaches do not put players in a position unless they know they can succeed.  This is the same issue we have with all of our shooters right now sans Glynn and Tai.  Nobody is hitting the open looks BUT they need to take them and MAKE THEM.  That is the expectation.

I think it definitely should be the expectation.  My issue with Gill and McVeigh (and I think Roby and Horne will be in this category) is that they are streaky shooters.  You have to evaluate them early on when they are in the rotation and pull them if they aren't heating up at all.  Jacobson, to me, has been really underutilized offensively this year because he apparently doesn't think he can get to the rim.  But it seems like every time he makes a concerted effort to get to the hoop via dribble penetration, he actually gets there and finishes or gets fouled.  He's a skilled player.  It's like he's forgotten how much muscle he has put on.  That's the difference between he and Morrow right now--Ed knows how strong he is.  If Jacobson can't find a post presence or even a dribble-drive presence, we're better with Jordy getting more of his minutes and Ed sliding over to the 4.

But for Gill, McVeigh, Roby, Horne, and Jacobson, you gotta be a D1 player and shoot the rock if you're open in rotation, and we gotta live with the results.

Single possession wins/loses will always draw a lot of analysis
