With how little offense production we're getting, im surprised Miles didn't use Horne. He could be the floor spacer we need, who cares if he cant play defense just yet. I'd rather have someone who is confident than someone who is hesitant in everything they do (McVeigh, Roby)

We do actually need him to be able to play defense but agree that he should have gotten a look.

Jacobsen must be a great three point shooter in practice...because he continues to take these shots....

If he can start hitting them occasionally...it would help...His shot looks decent, hit a couple and he might become a threat.

I really don't like him taking those threes.  It is out of range for him.  I thought tonight he had some lanes to drive, which he seems better at.

This year is going to be tough.  Gill and Jack have to start hitting shots.  Hopefully a game against a lesser opponent can get those guys going.  I thought Jack played alright on defense.  I only saw one big error where he ran out on a guy out of control, and let the guy by him.  If we aren't hitting 3's, we need to be getting to the line.  We can't go 4-18 from 3 and only get to the line 7 times.  That's not going to win many games.  In fact, we do that next week against Creighton or Kansas, we will get ran out of the gym.

Why did we have Jacobson guarding Blossomgame 17 feet from the basket.  I see he ended up 5-13 from the floor, but it felt like he killed us taking Jacobson off the dribble.  Jacobson though had a pretty good game, especially being guarded by Blossomgame most of the game.  Finished with 11 and 6.

Ed is playing extremely hard and crashing the boards with reckon abandon.  Put a different name on the front of the jersey and he is living at the free throw line.  10 and 12 for the big guy tonight.

For a young team, this team plays way beyond it's years on the defensive end.  Once they start learning the tricks to getting fouls called on the other team, we are going to be very good.

As much as I wanted a win, this game is going to help the team going forward.  Now, we need to stay in these games against bubble teams, and find a way at the end to win it.

At one point, you just need to lower your head and go to the basket.  The refs have to call a foul, sometime.

If he is open, he needs to take them.  He has good form, and the shots look good.  He is very capable of making them.  It will give him more lanes for him to drive.

Totally agree, MJ has a beautiful stroke. His shot is about as pure as we have on the team. If he can get it going from outside, look out.

It pains me how good we could be if we had a knock down 3 point shooter. If we could make people pay for collapsing the lane, damn

Unfortunately, maybe fortunately, I don't think it's a personnel problem. Or at least, not in the sense that we physically do not have a player or two who we can expect to hit from a good clip behind the arc. It's mental, experience based, and lack of rhythm offensively that are creating our shooting woes.

I personally believe that between McVeigh, Watson, Webster, Gill, and MJ that there's enough guys with good strokes who need to be knocking these down.

I'm just going to remain positive and enjoy watching these guys grow up before our eyes.

Gill and McVeigh will find their range sooner or later.

Roby's too hesitant, like a driver who just got up to Sprint Cup-caliber racing and is still getting used to speed and the level of aggression in racing. He's gotta cut it a loose a little, see what his car can do.

And, we all know Roby was out of the practice scene for 2-1/2 months so it feels more like he's trying to find his sea legs, from what it seems like at this point. He'll be fine in due time. A lot of FROSH go through this type of deal. Overthinking instead of reacting to the situation.

Offensively- WAY too many turnovers. WAY too many Jacobson 3's. Gill...with 6 seconds on the clock YOU CANNOT FRICKEN TRAVEL!!!

Defensively-had way too difficult of a job keeping our man in front. Jacobson got beat consistently. Our guards would jump out of the gym on pump fakes. Their slow center took ed to the hole from the free throw line. Pretty disappointed in us today. I. The first half it looked like we were really in control. Pissed off to see us lose this game

Sad but true fact that this team so far has shown similarities to teams on years past in the aspect that we know two guys (Glynn and Tai) are most likely gonna get their buckets and we have no idea what we're getting from everyone else. Prepare to shut one of them down (Clemson doubled on Tai on a few occasions) and you have a good chance to come out victorious

Freshman ppg through 7 games:

Jordy 2.6

Horne 2.3

Roby 2.3

Through 7 games last year:

Watson 8.6

McVeigh 7.1

I'd argue last year's team was better at this point, but it's debatable so let's call it a wash. Conclusions: (1) We might have overestimated the abilities of this year's freshman class (2) Miles had a more veteran team last year and was willing to live with more freshman errors (2) Glynn and Jack are better players than any of this year's frosh (4) or the coward's way out: too small a sample size to draw conclusions. :)
