So, Syracuse lost at home today to KenPom #54 Georgetown, falling to 6-4.  Their best win is a home win against KenPom #76 Monmouth.

Syracuse is 6-4 against the 193rd best SOS

Nebraska is 5-5 against the 7th best

That is all.

My dream is Syracuse playing Nebraska in Lincoln, in the NIT.

But before we played AWIII would then transfer to some NAIA school so they could win the National Title.

While working out, I watched the first two or three minutes of the game.  White hit two straight catch and shoot three pointers...ooooofffffff.  Had to change channels.  I then noticed the final box score.  He sure didn't do much more the remainder of the game.

Transitive score comparison:

Nebraska 71

UCLA 82

Texas A&M 67

UCLA 74

Michigan 102

UCLA 84

UCLA 97

Kentucky 92

Ohio State 73

UCLA 86

Doesn't necessarily  mean anything, just interesting to take a look at.

*UCLA 102 Michigan 84 - That UCLA game is as loose as I've seen us play all year. Really wish we could go into games with the nothing to lose attitude. You can see a huge difference between that game and say Creighton (every year) and Va Tech.

This is the coaching, they need to be allowed to run more, and stop this ugly half court game.

Too good of players to be running a slow paced, bogged down style.

And the team we beat is fourth...They weren't a pushover.

I think you may be misinterpreting the data--it clearly is based only off of results in conference play, as evidenced by OSU and Michigan having zeros across the board.

So yes, Indiana is fourth in offensive efficiency, but based off only one game of data...and that game was against us.  IU being fourth could just as easily imply that our defense is a "pushover."  Reality is that we won a high scoring, offense-focused game.

October is here, practice has begun and that can mean only one thing.  It's time once again to start the KenPom ranking thread!  For the first time in a while Nebraska will be starting off in the middle of the B1G pack.  We're hoping to build on last season's success and maybe do some pretty great things this season.  We finished last year at #55, no idea where Ken will have us to start, but Bart Torvik's T-Rank system (which is pretty similar to KenPom) currently has us at #36, good for 5th best in the B1G.

Once again I'm going to start the thread with each team's rank to start the previous year (in parenthesis) and how they finished.  Additionally, the teams on our schedule that made the postseason are color coded with the round the team lost noted.  NCAA is in Red and NIT in Blue.

Finally, don't forget to click here to see all the previous years' KenPom threads (I highly recommend going back through them, they're always fun to read).  Here we go!

Now that practice has started, I think it's close enough to the season to get the KenPom thread for this year going again (and also to beat Actuary to the punch on starting the KenPom thread, finally).

So, here are the final KenPom rankings for last year with our 2015-16 schedule.  I expect the new rankings to come out in a couple weeks but for now this should be a decent enough spot to start some discussion.

I can see Goodman's point, it does look kinda cupcake-y, but also there's quite a few games that will be much bigger challenges.  What do you think???

KenPom's preseason rankings are released. We are #34. I'll let 49r do his usual, thorough analysis if he wants to.

There are 11 Big Ten teams in the top 40.

It's October, practice has begun and @jimmykc has had his quicky in the sack with Lindy so that can mean only one thing.  It's time to start this season's KenPom thread!  As always, Nebraska starts off with a triple-digit ranking and is mired near the bottom of the league standings.  Keep in mind these are the numbers as of the end of last season, KenPom won't release this year's rankings for a few weeks yet.

A little format change for this year, I thought it might be a fun exercise to put the numbers from the end of 2015 in parenthesis just to show how the B1G teams progressed over the season last year (let me know if you want to keep this feature going throughout the season).  Additionally, I listed the B1G teams that made the postseason and the round they eventually lost in.  NCAA is in Red and NIT in Blue.

Finally, don't forget to click here to see all the previous years KenPom threads.  Here we go!

Looked today and on Kenpom.com, and I see Nebraska comes in as easily the lowest rated B1G team, clocking in at a whopping 216.

      Next lowest rated?

      Northwestern.

      At 90.

      Here are the rest...

      67 - Penn State
      54 - Illinois
      53 - Iowa
      37 - Purdue
      26 - Minnesota
      12 - Michigan
      5 - Wisconsin
      4 - Michigan State
      3 - Indiana
      2 - Ohio State

Remember the days when we used to chastise Doc for scheduling games against teams in the +200 RPI range?

      Yeah...

      Happy Halloween everybody!
