I did not exactly enjoy this article, but it was an interesting read.  I leave it up to you whether you wish to digest the thoughts and strategy that is...Andrew White III

http://www.nba.com/article/2017/05/09/syracuse-andrew-white-iii-ready-take-his-sharp-shooting-skills-nba

"Andrew played great the whole year,” Boeheim said after an NIT loss to Ole Miss ended Syracuse’s season. “We [were] a little disadvantaged with him at forward because of his size. That hurt us on the boards; that hurt us defensively."

Free agent or 2nd rounder??

White thought he’d hear from a handful of schools. He lost count after the number soared past 50

The constant naivety of AW3 always points back to AW2 spoon feeding him information for him to "make his own decisions"

Otherwise it's yet another sort of Andrew White puff piece.

He certainly has the shooting ability to play in the league, especially as it transitions more and more to shooters and spacing. He just has to find the right team where he's not required to handle the ball and they don't necessarily value defense.  Seems like a cheaper version of Doug McD for OKC.

This sentence from the article seems odd, considering his move to Syracuse where they play zone: "He’s also working on his defense, in hopes of becoming a 3 and D guy, ala Danny Green."

Everything he puts out makes sense as long as you never connect the dots

Any time I hear he made the move to improve the two things he struggles with I laugh.  Syracuse allowed him to hide his lack of defensive skills.

A couple weeks ago, this source had him in the bottom third of the first round: http://www.nbadraft.net/2017mock_draft

But now, the only Syracuse player listed in the first round is Tyler Lydon.

I noticed that too but it was bottom half of 2nd round.  Now it doesn't have him getting drafted.  Also has Swanigan in the 2nd round which im kinda surprised by.  I thought he would be a first rounder.  With his improved range I figured his stock would of went up.

The draft is apparently "loaded" this year.  Those guys both might have improved but it's also possible they might have been better off leaving last year.

If petteway is still languishing in the DL, White would struggle to stay on that kind of roster, much less an NBA team. He's a one dimensional player who requires too much volume at that one dimension to be of much use to a team.

By refusing to improve and round out his game, and to remain in his narrow comfort zone at all costs (3 programs in 5 years), he's pretty much passed on becoming a pro. Europe 2d tier is calling.

Petteway is in Italy.

And still a stud:

One of those was like the dagger he hit against Wisconsin that basically put us in the NCAA tourney.

Makes such a difference when you have a guy who can just flat out hit shots.  At the rim, beyond the arc, pulling up from 10 feet, whatever, Petteway could do it.

Great video.  Hope Terran makes the jump to the league.  Would be sweet to see.
