Andrew White Transfering

Recommended Posts

Seriously, stop making excuses... It's right in front of your eyes...

If White is sick of Miles' sideshow, how does he think we had so many Top 150 recruits on the roster, when we had never had one in nearly 20 years?  I am going to guess those high school studs are coming in because of Miles' personality and PR.  So, that's getting old.  My guess is that White found out what he needed to do to be an NBA player.  Miles' system did not offer that system.  So, he is going elsewhere.

Are you a Husker fan or a fan of a team along the Missouri River?
Nebraska season ticket holder and long time fan. I was on the Rivals basketball board with Dave and Nustudent before this board was ever created. I prior to the White info was a huge Miles fan. The reality is White wasn't the only one that was/isn't happy.

Part of the issue is the AAU system, handler, etc.

What Andrew is doing is selfish. He isn't an NBA player. He will never be one, that being said, he was our best player. It sucks.

Lastly, this is a great opportunity for the young guys more PT.

Ok Lanigan. We all know you have a source who said that White was tired of the Miles sideshow. I honestly don't remember how hard I came after you in that thread and I'm not about to go back and read. But I believe my thoughts at the time were not so much that I didn't believe that White had said that but were more about what that even meant.

I'm not going to sit here and act like everything that is going on is a positive because it's not. There seems to be a group of people who point to things that happen and hint at terrible things going on in the background but never spill the beans. I believe you called White leaving (before it happened) "the cherry on top" of all the things wrong with Miles' program and tenure.

There's clearly two camps forming here. Call them what you want but there's the excuse makers/sunshine pumpers/Miles backer group and then there's the "cherry on top group" who never say what the cherry is sitting on top of.

Back to White now there's obviously sides to every story. Obviously this is not a good situation. It puts Miles and the program in a horrible position. We may never know if this situation is all Miles, all White, or just a bad combination of both. But I heard, I'll just say from a source, that White and his father were both delusional and that it's been a difficult situation for the staff and the white family the entire time he's been here.

No more bad news pleaseZ

OWH article on the situation was solid. It stated that during the draft process, AW3 was asked (Something along the lines of), "if you are an NBA caliber player, why did your teams record reflect so poorly?"

Obviously we who follow the program no the reasons why: youth, inexperience, undersized.

But apparently that question really stuck with him/ bothered him.

Looking at the transfers Miles has taken in, so far:

Petteway:  Left early for NBA draft.  Played full season in NBA Developmental League.

Pitchford:  Left early for NBA draft.  Did not make, nor was he ever going to make it.  Retired from basketball.

White: Transferred out of school.

Gill: Still on team

Palmer:  Sit out this year, and will still be on team.

That is the risk you take when taking transfers.  Petteway, a motivated Pitchford, and White all played sparingly on their previous teams, but were much better when they were the focal points of the offense.

This stuck out to me as well. If he couldn't make us better, he's not gonna make a Duke or Kentucky better. He needs a creator around him. He is a great shooter and rebounder, but teams can game plan for him. If i remember correctly, after he put up 35 against Penn state, he scored 8 against them next time. I would've loved to see him stay but I won't miss his selfishness if what we are hearing is true.

Agreed...and you tend to get somewhat selfish players who see the other side as being greener...otherwise they would've stayed at their original school.

I feel the same way. AW3 is a talent that will be missed but if he wasn't going to be 100% "N" he would've just hurt the teamed and stalled progress.
