In an article that discusses whether NCAA-imposed scholarship reduction penalties will affect Syracuse:

"In the nine seasons after the 2003 national title, Syracuse had at least 10 and as many as 11 active players on its roster. Three times Syracuse had 10 available scholarship players, but actually 11 on its roster. Arinze Onuaku and Andy Rautins had years that were spent as medical redshirts, while Wes Johnson sat out one year as a transfer."

"While Syracuse has succeeded with less than the NCAA's normal allotment of 13 scholarships, the Orange has had more than 10 players on scholarship in seven of the last 12 years."

Easier to do with a high talent level of the dudes on scholly.

USC football did pretty well the years they were on massive reductions because they had great players. Other programs under those circumstances would have taken at least a decade to get where they were/are.

I have never thought our 1 scholarship "sanction" was bad.  If you play an 8-9 man rotation 12 scholarships are plenty.  In this day and age of free agency in college basketball having an open scholarship does not seem like a bad choice.  Had we picked up a stud at semester this past year, many of you would have agreed with me.

The word "parity" gets tossed about a lot these days.  On Mike & Mike the other day they were discussing parity and it was either Bilas or Calhoun who said that parity only exists in the bottom 8 players.  Meaning, if a player is not starting, they likely are looking elsewhere the next year.  Hence, the 700+ transfers that is becoming the norm.  They/He said, that the elite programs with the elite starting fives remain the same nearly every year.  If you can have an eight deep line-up, then it is down right impressive.

Not sure this fits in this topic, but perhaps many of you have your own observations on that declaration.

I think "The Simpsons" became a parody of itself a long time ago. So much so in fact that it is just unwatchable now.

Still gets good ratings so either people are watching or maybe leaving their tvs on at the same time every week

Back in the day, though, it was pretty funny.

The "Cape Feare" episode where the family enters witness protection because Sideshow Bob wants to kill Bart?

At the parole hearing:

"Isn't it true you have 'Die Bart, Die' tattooed on your chest?"

"That's German.  It stands for 'The Bart, The."

"Well, anyone who speaks German can't be evil."

I get that but it's not like fox would replace it with something better. So wanting the show cancelled because you no longer like it seems strange considering it has loyal viewers.

That's like saying Nebraska used to be good in the 90s but they've sucked for 15 years so let's cancel the program. A lot of the state probably wouldn't care but the eight thousand of us who still go with
