It will mostly be the last round of covid guys....but we're still technically two more classes before the covid impact will be completely erased. Ex. 2020-2021 Covid 2021-2022 True Frosh 2022-2023 RS Frosh 2023-2024 RS Soph 2024-2025 RS Junior 2025-2026 RS Senior There will be fewer examples of this after this season, but it is still technically possible. Especially for guys who were injured post-Covid.

4 schollys left. Who you want?
B-town hoopsfan replied to TourneyBound's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
2 bigs, 1 that’s a stretchier 4 with some bounce and another who’s more traditional to play opposing 5s. Then just 2 guys we think will have a chance to actually be here next year regardless of position. Suspect these two need to be from towns within X miles of Lincoln. At some point whatever we call what the current portal is will get some restrictions put on it(hopefully sooner than later imo) and just adding 10 new players each year is gonna be tougher than it is now. Plus this is the last round of covid seniors so the portal should shrink next year regardless -

According to Washut on visits: Payne's visit is off; and Hausen from Villanova will probably be visiting.

Allick was 8-22 from 3. He attempted less than 1 three per game and on average made one 3 pointer every 4 games played. Rienk Mast was 42-122. Andrew Morgan was 12-33. Igor Milicic was 56-149. IMO, we need 2 of these 3 above and we'll be fine, and then Kyle will do things on the court none of our other bigs could do last year. I expect Brice to carry a much bigger shooting load with Keisei gone, and Griffiths will make a huge leap over his Rutgers production. Lost in all that is Nick Janowski, who I've been really high on and still think can have a role, especially if he comes in this summer and establishes himself as a shooter. We're also still trying to land Essiegan. Also, no one has seen Ahron Ulis shoot a basketball since having Fred Hoiberg coach him for 12 months. I do not think it's unreasonable to think he can match Jamarques' numbers (36-101, 35.6%) while doing everything else at the PG spot better. Fred Hoiberg is not going to have a roster short on shooters.
-
The only reason that Allick's 3pt% wasn't atrocious was because he was wide open every time he took one. He was a relatively weak finisher and lacked touch. He was an athlete, however. But that can and will be replaced.
-
1. Kyle 2. -A. Explosive combo guard if Mast is healthy -B. Igor if he isn't. 3. Best young player willing to sit a year before playing time 4. Scholie to Sam H. or Jacobson I don't really believe we can add 4 more high quality players who are ready this year. There are only so many minutes to go around.
-
I sort of look at it this way; Keisei's replacement is already on the roster. His name is BRICE WILLIAMS.
-
If you look at it like replacing Lawrence and Boogie with Ulis and Worster and Keita with Kyle or Panye it looks pretty reasonable. The only reason to make Worster for Keisei comparisons is because we still have 4 open scholarships I assume that Hoiberg's offense will run better with true PGs but given the lack of them here, I don't know.
-
Igor Kyle After those two, I am pretty flexible. I would maybe flex towards youth/projects/specialists.
-
Sounds like Brendan Hausen from Villanova is someone to keep an eye on. Career 40% 3pt shooter
-
A. Worster and Ulis won't be on the court much at the same time. B. While they aren't as good of shooters as Keisei, their ability to distribute will allow guys to more shots in catch and shoot situations. C. Allick is a better shooter from 3 than a Kyle, but he's hardly Dirk Nowitzki. Kyle's ability to finish inside and at the rim will help open up more kickouts as well.

As much as I like our new additions, I’m not sure I’d say we’re maintaining our offensive identity with these changes. Neither Worster nor Ulis are good shooters, especially not as good as the guys they’re replacing. If we replace Allick with a guy like Kyle or Payne, that’s a big change from Allick stretching the floor. Neither of those guys are three point threats. My concern is we’re overreacting to the last game we played, and the changes we make could do more harm to the offense than good to the defense. Not to mention I don’t think we’ve actually added any great defenders… just guys who are improvements over bad defenders like Keisei and Wilcher. -

I thought Washut had said it was a possibility on Ulis but I/he could be wrong -
I can see holding one for the next month or so. Especially after seeing the post about players waiting for their last NIL checks before hitting the portal. But by the time summer workouts roll around, I’d like a full cupboard of players competing for playing time.
-
I very much doubt that the NCAA is going to give Ulis back a year. I'll leave it to the reader at this point to decide if Mast is going to redshirt next year because of surgery recovery.

It's possible Mast and Ulis could be "juniors" eligibility wise next season. -
Helpful to reference who we have G Ahron Ulis - 6'3" - SR G Rollie Worster - 6'4" - SR G Brice Williams - 6'7" - SR G Sam Hoiberg - 6'0" - JR G Gavin Griffiths - 6'8" Soph G Nick Janowski - 6'3" FR F Juwan Gary - 6'6" - SR F Rienk Mast - 6'10" - SR F Andrew Morgan 6'10" - SR F Braden Frager 6'6" - FR ------------------------------ Gary, Juwan Ahron Ulis Williams, Brice Mast, Rienk Worster, Rollie Morgan, Andrew Griffiths, Gavin Janowski, Nick Frager, Braden Seems like prioritizing guys who might be here past next season should be highly considered.

I really like Igor Milicic and the versatility he can bring. William Kyle would be great to take defensive pressure off our bigs who can move around bit. With those two holes filled I would love to bring in guys who can come in and learn and grow. Ideally play a bit but be future guys who actually want to stick around. With how Hoiberg has done it, I don’t see us using more than 8… maybe 9 guys and we have about hit that number. Still think we probably need another shooter but maybe the incoming freshmen fill that void. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
1. Lets get Igor 2. Kyle or Payne 3. Shooter Hausen/Essegian 4. Leave a scholly open.

Great pickup. 5* kid who needed a year to put his game together at the B1G level. This is one of those situations where you’re happy to be the player’s second stop rather than the school he chose out of high school. Rutgers got him when he was pure potential. We got him for the year(s) he will be productive.
-
Don't forget about Carter Whitt. On second thought, go ahead and forget about Carter Whitt.
-
After Friedrichson, Sallis, and now Kyle, I'm starting to think Steve Forbes' recruiting strategy is just "see who Fred offers, then offer them a big bag."
-
I guess a career high in offensive rebounds set against Nebraska will carry you only so far.
