ACC last won (6-5) in 2008.

The Big Ten has retained the title since, either tying or winning outright (2009, 10, 11 & 14); Even with a presumably 'weaker' Nebraska team participating each year since joining the Big Ten (Happily Nebraska has carried their own weight in the challenge, winning all of their individual matches thumbsup.gifexcept for their first year, losing to Wake Forest, 55-53, in 2011, defeating Wake Forest, Miami & Florida State in succession :) ).

I am hoping the B1G will continue to retain the title.  ;)

Those ties just kept the B1G in line with retaining the title so it's really 10-6 ACC all-time. It's like the Ryder Cup in that sense...

Figures that my 8,000th post is a technicality, which seems to be my specialty. ;) - GBR

B1G sweeps the early Wednesday games to take a 7-4 lead and clinches at least a series tie, which means B1G clinches the "championship" - very impressive collective set of performances by the league against some tough competition

Now, it's down to a 10-7 advantage all-time for the ACC, but the Big Ten has "kept" the title for seven straight seasons. Go B1G or go home!

B1G takes it, 8-6. Although I think Coach Crean is a bit more red than orange after last night.

B1G went just 3-4 at home, but came up with 5 road wins with Wisky & PSU winning outright as 'dogs. Those were the only 2 point spread underdogs to win outright, and the B1G won the 2 pick'em games as well (NW & Purdue both winning on the road). Despite Coach Fran's heroics  ;) those were the 4 key games.

And it appears the Big East lost its challenge series with the Pac-12, 0-1.  ;) Tough break for the BE.

Wednesday (B1G wins 8-6)

  • at Michigan State 71, Louisville 67 (MSU favored by 6)
  • Wisconsin 66, at Syracuse 58 (OT) (Cuse favored by 5)
  • Penn State 67, at Boston College 58 (BC favored by 1)
  • at Duke 94, Indiana 74 (Duke favored by 10)
  • Notre Dame 84, at Illinois 79 (Domers favored by 2 1/2)
  • at Iowa 78, Florida State 75 (OT) (Iowa favored by 5 1/2)

Monday (Tied 1-1)

  • Wake Forest 69, at Rutgers 68 (Wake favored by 6)
  • at Minnesota 89, Clemson 83 (Minn favored by 1)

Tuesday (tied 4-4)

  • Michigan 66, at NC State 59 (Mich favored by 1)
  • Northwestern 81, at Virginia Tech 79 (OT) (Pick'em)
  • Virginia 64, at Ohio State 58 (UVa favored by 8)
  • Purdue 72, at Pittsburgh 59 (Pick'em)
  • Miami-Fla 77, at Nebraska 72 (OT) (Miami favored by 6)
  • at North Carolina 89, Maryland 81 (UNC favored by 6)

So, I remember reading one of the pundits saying the ACC would wipe the floor with the B1G in this challenge because, of the Power 6 conferences, there's really the ACC and Big 12 and then the other 4.

Actually, I think it was Pomeroy who was saying this.  Because he was talking about how the top 5 offensive efficiency teams in the nation were all ACC teams.

I wonder what Pomeroy is saying today.  Anyone with a subscription want to fill us in?

1. When the dust settles, which conference will have won the Big Ten/ACC Challenge?

Andy Katz: The ACC will win it. I do like a few of the road Big Ten teams like Michigan and Northwestern as well as Michigan State at home. But overall the ACC is deeper and stronger. The toughest game to call is Pitt-Purdue. The overall strength and the home/road split favors the ACC. The ACC also has more potential Final Four and national title contenders. The Big Ten probably only has one -- Michigan State.

Jeff Goodman: The ACC is going take this one -- and it may not even be close. It's the better league this season, especially with Ohio State and Wisconsin taking significant dips. The ACC is the best overall league in America this season from top to bottom.

John Gasaway: I like the ACC's chances to win this thing outright (no tie) for the first time since December of 2008. The league's been more or less as good as advertised, while the Big Ten's overall strength has been hurt significantly by the early-season struggles of 2015 NCAA tournament teams like Wisconsin, Indiana and Ohio State.

I think Purdue is a legitimate final 4 team.  They defend really well, have two solid rim protectors, can shoot the ball, and make free throws.

We could well have 2 B1G teams in the Final Four.
