2016 Gavitt Games - and Nebraska is not participating this year

The field for the 2016 Gavitt Games is set, multiple sources told CBS Sports on Wednesday.
 
Official dates and times are still to be determined but here's the matchups:
 
Seton Hall at Iowa
 
Villanova at Purdue
 
Maryland at Georgetown
 
Rutgers at DePaul
 
St. John's at Minnesota
 
Providence at Ohio State
 
Wisconsin at Creighton
 
Northwestern at Butler

Why would there be any teams from the BE not participating?  Only 8 of the 14 B1G teams are in it due to 2 BE teams sitting out.

 

And Miles is likely in favor of opting out of facing the defending champ (Nova) as NU will be playing the team that had been #1 before the big dance (KU) on the road in December of 2016..

Here my prediction on winner of each game noted in red.  I've got it a draw at 4 games each.

 

Seton Hall at Iowa  (Seton Hall)

 

Villanova at Purdue (Villanova)

 

Maryland at Georgetown (Leaning towards Maryland but pretty even game)

 

Rutgers at DePaul (DePaul)

 

St. John's at Minnesota (Minnesota but both teams are really bad)

 

Providence at Ohio State (Ohio State)

 

Wisconsin at Creighton (Creighton)

 

Northwestern at Butler (Northwestern)
