  1. looks like we play next Sat or Sunday. It makes a big difference to the selection committee, in how you preform in the last phase of the season. That's when we shined against good competition. 6 seed...It makes sense if you consider we beat Iowa, and not only beat them in Lincoln, but almost beat the no.4 team twice. ( the B1G title game was seen by an estimated 4 million on TV) Almost twice that saw the Volleyball national title game. And...we beat the darling of ESPN ....MIch St twice. Creighton no 7 seed probably reflects their schedule. All that all means noting now, it's all in the our hands to go a far as we can from here on out.
  2. The Governor has stepped in and pretty much told the BOR to get their butts in gear and get moving on the hiring's.
  3. The only thing that mattered to Trev....was Trev Alberts.
  4. Agree with a lof things previously said here. After a day to reflect, it's really disappointing he chose to leave. Everyone has thier own ideas what happened to get him to jump ship. Because he basically says the admin wasn't in place. What is said in public statements usually are "cover tracks" for smoothing the transition out in this case. Just like in business, politics, athletic coaches, AD's etc etc It is seemingly, with no warning... "out of the blue". He's the AD, one of the highest ranking (and paid) positions at the university. He just got a huge raise to $1,700,000 about 8 months ago. The school made him one of the highest paid AD's in the country. He would get another $500,000 next year. He's been given everything he's ask for, and maybe more. He's was still going to get paid even without a University President in place. In some ways it would seem to be a responsibility of a leader of the university to help resolve issues, and not bail out if the going gets a bit sticky. Also, maybe he wasn't going to get his way in resolving the issues. A clash of headstrong personalities? So you take your ball and go home? Just maybe....he wasn't going to get his way ?? It's just so disappointing to have a former Husker All American, finally get his dream job, so he said, and leaves after a relatively short stent here. And leaving the way did is not good conduct. for lack of a better word.
  5. More speculation. It's free right ? We'll see what happens in the next week or so.. It may be he just got offered a lot more money than he's making now....which is really a lot now. .... Makes sense he might leave. But should he choose to leave for the same money ? Obviously would raise a red flag to some people....considering the open lawsuit. If Alberts says he just wants to move forward to new challenges....not so sure, at this point anyway. would have think about that one. Everything's been going along great with new high dollar football coach, mega buck football facilities expansion...and a new major stadium remodel, for millions $$$$ of dollars. His work is not done here..... ..so why leave ? It's real complicated. We need to know more....but only the ones behind the scenes know what's really happening.

  8. Extremely proud of this team. Biggest surprise team of the BIG. A couple of breaks and it's ours. Not disappointed at all. Just about... as good as it gets. GBR !
  9. Three guesses and the first two don't count........ Iowa no class fans
  10. Watching the refs sort it out One So Caro cold cocked a LSU player, sent her flying to the floor. Cops jumped in....benches clear... Wild one going on. So far several players have been ejected (not sure how many), technicals, fans thrown out....fun times at the court
  11. Wow...this team has heart, love for each other, and an extraordinary desire to do well. That was hard to watch and not feel for them
  12. Been thinking about this for quite a while and agree. On the one hand we loose our best floor general in decades. On the other we're pretty well set for next year. How quickly the new freshman adapt to bigger and faster competition, may be the difference on how we develop. Potts was in the mix very soon this year, Nissley took about the first 10 games to get into the flow (but that's pretty quick) We'll be even stronger inside with Markowski, and Potts.... having a full season (and winter ) before her sophomore season, to make even bigger contributions. Expect her to really excel next year. Plus a freshman and I like Pertie inside ..and the freshman at the 4 possibly...(she too had this year to get the feel....and she has some good moves and can shoot. Hake is a capable point now. She's come along way this year. And Prince of course, but how fast can she adjust to college from class B high school play? Very quick I hope. Lots of time to hash this over until next season.....really optimistic for next year.
  13. Alexis Markowski led the Huskers with 23 points and 13 rebounds. This was her 19th double-double this season and 40th career double-double to tie for the most in Husker history. Freshman Natalie Potts had 21 points and nine rebounds. Jaz Shelley also had a double-double with 16 points and 13 assists. Shelley’s 18 three-pointers broke the record for most threes in a single Big Ten Tournament. Both Markowski and Shelley were All-Big Ten Tournament team selections. Next, the Huskers will find out their NCAA Tournament seed and placement during the NCAA Selection Show on Sunday, March 17.
  14. Extremely proud of this team. Biggest surprise team of the BIG. A couple of breaks and it's ours. Not disappointed at all. Just about... as good as it gets. GBR !
  15. Maybe the real important ones that are game changers
  16. In the case of Maryland game, Maryland was getting hurt by Markowski in the first half, so they predictably went to the double team in the second half. Thankfully our guards and subs took up the slack. That's what you hope they would do, and they did. Jazz in particular. But others were big contributors. That's how you beat the double team. All the post infighting ends up in sort of a dog fight. Markowski's real good at positioning before the rebound, and she and Potts, whoever, were getting shoved farther under the basket.....or to the floor like yesterday. ( happens when double teamed.) It's a war in the post.
  17. JOKE ...just so no one gets excited. I'm kind of disappointed in Jazz...she had 5 turnovers today. : ( OK... Jazz's grandparents were there today to watch their grand daughter play maybe her greatest game ever as a Husker (or possibly ever). That's as about as good as it gets. Maybe the best overall game, and on another level, by any Husker I seen in quite a few years of watching Husker women. Jazz not only shot like crazy.....but was the General on the floor, and controlled the tempo and the game overall. The whole team was on fire and played great. GONGRATULATIONS on a great game today. Actually great play all week. Looking forward to tomorrow. No matter what happens tomorrow, just proud of this group. and how they fought so hard all week...and season. It's not over, lots of games left hopefully in the NCAA's. This week has to have improved our NCAA seed.
  18. I voice (type) my displeasure about the refs occasionally, simply because they can affect the game and it's outcome. They're paid to do a job. In the real world adults that paid for a job ....can get praise or criticism. As far as our players are concerned, I really think they're off limits to "trashing". I absolutely believe they are trying to do the best they can. Everyone doesn't have innately the same level of athletic skills. Many are not even old enough to vote yet. Maybe I'm just old school, but leave them alone. I'll bet those that do trash players here......wouldn't say it in person, to their face. You guys do whatever you must. I ain't never have or ever will be joining that group. My momma taught me better. :)
  19. Maybe her biggest assets are she never gets rattled, and never quits. Missed some shots, it just seems to make her more determined. Focused always. When it's on the line she is pretty reliable. Other teams know it. The supporting cast came up big time today.
  20. GREAT WIN ! Markowski just got Player Of The Game. I would say that win puts us in the NCAA tourney.
  21. They probably will double team Markowski in 2nd half, if they have a brain at all. Other wise Alexis may have her way with them. On the other hand if Markowski is double teamed, the supporting cast must show up.
  22. 3rd qtr We're shooting poorly, turning the ball over, crazy subbing, seemly half there at times...and yet we're ahead by 6. Just suck it up and focus. Finish strong, and it will take care of it's self.
  23. Purdue beat Northwestern by about 6. So not real impressed with Purdue against a weak opponent. On the other hand we had a stinker our selves. We play Purdue tomorrow, Thursday at about 2 approximately. (we play after the first game of the day) We win, and next would be Friday, vs. Mich St.....all if the last bracket I looked is still correct. ************** (5) Nebraska Cornhuskers (19-10, 11-7 Big Ten) at TIAA Big Ten Tournament Thursday, March 7, 2024, 2 p.m. (CT) Target Center - Minneapolis, Minnesota Television: BTN / FOX Sports App Sloane Martin (PBP), Christy Winters Scott (Analyst) Live Radio: Huskers Radio Network (1 p.m.) Matt Coatney (PBP), Jeff Griesch (Analyst) B107.3 FM (Lincoln), 590 AM (Omaha), Huskers.com, Huskers App Live Stats: Huskers.com Nebraska Cornhuskers (19-10, 11-7 Big Ten - NCAA NET 29) 22 - Natalie Potts - 6-2 - Fr. - F/G - 10.5 ppg, 5.4 rpg 40 - Alexis Markowski - 6-3 - Jr. - C/F - 15.8 ppg, 10.7 rpg 1 - Jaz Shelley - 5-9 - Gr. - G - 12.8 ppg, 4.2 rpg 2 - Logan Nissley - 6-0 - Fr. - G - 6.4 ppg, 2.1 rpg 15 - Kendall Moriarty - 6-1 - Jr. - G - 3.5 ppg, 1.3 rpg Off the Bench 0 - Darian White - 5-6 - Gr. - G - 7.1 ppg, 3.7 rpg 14 - Callin Hake - 5-9 - So. - G - 5.9 ppg, 2.9 rpg 12 - Jessica Petrie - 6-2 - Fr. - F - 4.3 ppg, 2.2 rpg 21 - Annika Stewart - 6-3 - Sr. - F - 3.5 ppg, 1.5 rpg 42 - Maddie Krull - 5-9 - Gr. - G - 2.5 ppg, 1.8 rpg 32 - Kendall Coley - 6-2 - Jr. - F - 2.2 ppg, 1.9 rpg Head Coach: Amy Williams (Nebraska, 1998) Eighth Season at Nebraska (133-109); 17th Season Overall (326-218) Purdue Boilermakers (13-17, 5-13 Big Ten - NET 72) 20 - Mary Ashley Stevenson - 6-2 - Fr. - F - 9.8 ppg, 4.8 rpg 32 - Alaina Harper - 6-3 - So. - F - 1.0 ppg, 1.1 rpg 10 - Jeanae Terry - 5-11 - 5th - G - 5.2 ppg, 8.2 rpg 23 - Abbey Ellis - 5-6 - 5th - G - 14.6 ppg, 3.8 rpg 33 - Madison Layden - 6-1 - Sr. - G - 10.1 ppg, 3.2 rpg
  24. All of this bodes well for next year. Alexis, Potts and Nissely are all back next season, with a very nice freshman group coming in. Hopefully will transition and assimilate together and make a super team in 2024. Got lucky in my predictions and pretty much called all the Nebraska players and their ALL B1G selection spots. We all get lucky (hopefully) some times. Really though, two freshman on the ALL FRESHMAN team ! That's huge !
