  1. Or rebound..... Couldn't watch the game so have to look at stats....so guessing a bit.... Markowski had about as many rebounds as the other 4 starters combined, and as many as the entire bench. She was game high for both teams in points and rebounds. Not bragging for Markowski, rather real concerned about her being the only one Kansas couldn't stop. (few teams can stop Markowski as far as that's concerned) Only could see on my phone the score stats and but when Markowski went to bench at about the beginning of 2nd, the score was tied at at 14 or so. In about 6-7 min, Kansas was ahead by 10 or so. (time could be off) Apparently our guard offensive scheme we're running can be compromised with quick defenders. There are offenses that feature shooting guards. They do exist. So what's our answer? Playing so many weak teams in preseason doesn't help develop the team. We seem to be a "momentum" team. When everything's going great...we're good to go. But need to be able to fight back and overcome. Maybe just a bad day on the job, and we'll be ok, but it's frustrating.
  2. Nope, not paying for ESPN+ either. You can get Matt and Jeff ongoing game audio as well as game stats on Huskers.com. (I've used the game stat thing a few times on my phone when not home or in office, etc)
  3. Going to miss the game live. Have a family deal tonight. Anyway this is going to be a real test. Kansas's record is deceiving. They're better than their record. All the starters can play and score. They have better height overall. Lots of experience and older players. Their center Johnson is 6-6 and dynamic. Better buckle up for this one.
  4. Agree..... Niissley definitely has an upside that's in development. She had the freshmen factor to get over, and get into the flow. She has done that, and continues to improve. I certainly see her as the shooting guard. She's becoming very productive for the low minutes she gets to play. She gets my vote for one of the top three or four guards. Her shooting skills can't be ignored any longer. On top of that her BBall IQ is excellent.
  5. Borderline thug ball at times. Saw some pushing and shoving without the ball, but not really a problem. Weird ref calls too. Just call the fouls please. We do seem like we're on Xmas vacation a bit. A step slow. Kind of getting back into a flow somewhat. Giving everyone a chance to play, so there's a little confusion on coverages. Markowski (1,000 pts) and Jazz (3s) both ....hit some big NU record numbers today. Finish it out girls and we'll watch some championship volleyball
  6. Miss Row 6 seat 10's high road sometimes
  7. Nice win away from home in the B!G. At times we looked real good. Different people stepped up at different times to keep us in the game. Excess guard turnovers almost did us in. We had about 25 turnovers in the open court. Mich St had a lot to do with that. Markowski pretty much put the lid on it in the 4th.... with another double double. 13 pts 17 rebounds. Tops for both teams in points and rebounds.
  8. Maybe a bit too much or to early.....but get the feeling this team can really be good. The components are there. At all positions...some are stronger than others of course. Have some very good experience, and a complement of good freshmen, that are contributing right away. Chemistry seems good all around. Just use them correctly, get the minutes right, schemes that work for your personnel, etc etc. but the potential seems greater than some past teams. Need everyone to stay healthy. But I like where we're going.
  9. Looks like Jazz is well again....to say the least. Nissley has gotten up to speed of the college game. And Petrie has too. She has a nice short range shot around the basket. Everybody is doing well...obviously. Lots of good moments for all the payers UNCW is really behind what's going on...looks like never played in a competitive game before. On the other hand they play pretty clean BBall. Their Coach is in her 1st season at UNCW
  10. Or could it also be because the previous coach is gone ?
  11. The game tonight will be very winnable...if we are ready to play and don't sleep the 1st qtr. or two. Sure would like to see the other bench guards (Hake and Nissley) get a chance to start and see what they can do when give that chance. We need scoring out of all three guards. Driving to the basket still isn't our strength this year. Even wonder if any of the forwards could work at guard to strengthen the guard position. Moriarity started 4 games early.... but had the fewest minutes last game ?? No matter who plays guard, we really need better rebounding from them (Jazz and White are the best rebounders of the guards), and the 4 position too for that matter....need to consistently rebound. Right now we have 3 people doing most of the rebounding. I watch some other teams and are envious of their team rebounding. AM looks to be playing better than she has in the past. And she's become very good shooting with both hands. According to the stats she's our MVP. Need her on the floor as much as possible. She's very driven to play hard and be intense. As she has been from her freshman year. Mendelson comes back....maybe create an offense using both AM and Mendelson at same time, for part of games. You could really protect the boards.
  12. Wow...stink in the first half, our heads were on vacation, (where have we seen that before).... and we're like the complete opposite the second half. How can we be so different in a half's time? Haven't seen different half's like that in a long time. The freshmen did us well. Coley had some real good shots when we needed them to stay in the game.
  13. Our shooting percentages are horrible. Their guards are very good at floor play, ball handling, and their guards rebound. We're just getting outplayed in the first half. https://stats.statbroadcast.com/statmonitr/?id=491941&_gl=1*1ymwo0b*_ga*ODg5MDEyODkzLjE3MDE1NDk4MDY.*_ga_2ZWVK1X7BJ*MTcwMTU0OTgwNS4xLjEuMTcwMTU0OTg3OS4wLjAuMA..
  14. Pretty sure I remember their coach Fortner from National/Olympic teams several years ago. Pretty experienced and good at what she does. Expect her team to be pretty organized. GT will be somewhat like us, in size and depth. This is going to be a good game. Hope we're ready right out of the gate
  15. Because it's good to sometimes use "facts" on a forum to illustrate a point...rather than only opinions. And a good read on the game https://omaha.com/sports/huskers/womens-basketball/alexis-markowski-scores-18-as-nebraskas-defense-stifles-florida-atlantic/article_16b160d9-6179-55d2-b84a-ed246d7e61f3.html?utm_source=omaha.com&utm_campaign=%2Fnewsletter-templates%2Flocal%2Flocal-sports&utm_medium=cio&lctg=eef307049a13dbbc07&tn_email_eh1=f2b4b3291a25f3303e34a3f0131f1bfb5de087bc5b23544fdac0d22900a240cd
  16. Talking about minutes for starters and subs I looked at B1G stats. Markowski is again this year, leading the conference in rebounding. But interestingly she is not even in the B1Gs top 25 in minutes played per game. AM is 5th in points scored per game. So, what might be the results if she played more minutes....add Jazz, and Potts, and White etc.... By this time of the season you know who is the most effective at given positions. Maybe this subbing process will change once the B1G season starts ? I get it's still preseason so use lots of players....give them some real, on the floor time. Petrie (sp) is improving, And some others.
  17. This may not be our toughest game of the year, but hopefully we start fast and set the tone early. Expect the entire bench plays tonight if we in fact get a good start and take control of the game. We might see some individual good scoring/rebounding games by our girls. The last game should have a bit of a wakeup call. Wonder if we'll see some full court press....if we have enough able bodies to do it anyway. The owls have three starters that usually does the scoring. One guard in particular. They appear to be a decent team on paper. But maybe not B1G caliber. On BTN+
  18. Wonder how much that team cost TCU ? The reality of the "new" transfer fiasco.
  19. Unfortunately for listening to game.... I will miss most of it. We're having Thanksgiving family dinner at 2:00. Hope there will be a Youtube to watch later. Good luck ladies ! GBR ! HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE !!
  20. Simple Don't wholesale make 3-4 substitutions all the time. Rotate in max 2 at a time. Replace those first subs.. out first. Creighton subbed maybe one at a time. Their best 5 played about 85-90% of the minutes. That's what most of the better teams do.
  21. Observation and we've talked about this before. And yes it's just an opinion. That game is another example different coaches, approach to player usage. Creighton used the 5 starters, most of the minutes by far, and they scored most of the points by far. And when they did that, their player to player chemistry seemed to work well. We do the other, almost opposite approach, where we play the whole bench. (I know we have injury issues) We usually have a different roster on the floor at any given time, through out the game. Just wonder, ultimately, how productive that is. Lastly, we're did compete. Defensive lapse's (sp) hurt. Lack of scoring from guards hurt. Like already said we got behind early and couldn't sustain the momentum for very long. Markowski had maybe her best game for a while. She kept us in the game, most of the game. Watched replay today. (Mon) Had we shot better as a team, we would have won. So moving on to next one.
  22. 11-20 Watched some of the Iowa game last weekend. They will win lots of games. Clark wasn't drilling the basket constantly, at least when I watched. Still has those sneaky moments where she elbows someone, etc. But the team was in pretty good flow most of the time. Lot's of new Iowa faces, but the they are "players". The new guards (maybe were on the bench last year?) Don't who were freshmen...anyway one's that I watched were skilled and up tempo . Never saw McCabe on the floor, but didn't watch all the game. The new bigs are pretty capable too. We'll need to be ready when they come up on the schedule.
  23. She's getting into the speed of the game, and getting used to the American game. Yep, she's becoming more and more of an asset. Needed more points from our guards today. No matter how ever they can get them.
  24. The three was our enemy, we shot 14%. If we could have even shot 25% (which we usually do) it would have been enough. So so on free throws 68%. We were close enough. A few breaks, and better defense.
