  1. Alexis Markowski led the Huskers with 23 points and 13 rebounds. This was her 19th double-double this season and 40th career double-double to tie for the most in Husker history. Freshman Natalie Potts had 21 points and nine rebounds. Jaz Shelley also had a double-double with 16 points and 13 assists. Shelley’s 18 three-pointers broke the record for most threes in a single Big Ten Tournament. Both Markowski and Shelley were All-Big Ten Tournament team selections. Next, the Huskers will find out their NCAA Tournament seed and placement during the NCAA Selection Show on Sunday, March 17.
  2. Extremely proud of this team. Biggest surprise team of the BIG. A couple of breaks and it's ours. Not disappointed at all. Just about... as good as it gets. GBR !
  3. Maybe the real important ones that are game changers
  4. In the case of Maryland game, Maryland was getting hurt by Markowski in the first half, so they predictably went to the double team in the second half. Thankfully our guards and subs took up the slack. That's what you hope they would do, and they did. Jazz in particular. But others were big contributors. That's how you beat the double team. All the post infighting ends up in sort of a dog fight. Markowski's real good at positioning before the rebound, and she and Potts, whoever, were getting shoved farther under the basket.....or to the floor like yesterday. ( happens when double teamed.) It's a war in the post.
  5. JOKE ...just so no one gets excited. I'm kind of disappointed in Jazz...she had 5 turnovers today. : ( OK... Jazz's grandparents were there today to watch their grand daughter play maybe her greatest game ever as a Husker (or possibly ever). That's as about as good as it gets. Maybe the best overall game, and on another level, by any Husker I seen in quite a few years of watching Husker women. Jazz not only shot like crazy.....but was the General on the floor, and controlled the tempo and the game overall. The whole team was on fire and played great. GONGRATULATIONS on a great game today. Actually great play all week. Looking forward to tomorrow. No matter what happens tomorrow, just proud of this group. and how they fought so hard all week...and season. It's not over, lots of games left hopefully in the NCAA's. This week has to have improved our NCAA seed.
  6. I voice (type) my displeasure about the refs occasionally, simply because they can affect the game and it's outcome. They're paid to do a job. In the real world adults that paid for a job ....can get praise or criticism. As far as our players are concerned, I really think they're off limits to "trashing". I absolutely believe they are trying to do the best they can. Everyone doesn't have innately the same level of athletic skills. Many are not even old enough to vote yet. Maybe I'm just old school, but leave them alone. I'll bet those that do trash players here......wouldn't say it in person, to their face. You guys do whatever you must. I ain't never have or ever will be joining that group. My momma taught me better. :)
  7. Maybe her biggest assets are she never gets rattled, and never quits. Missed some shots, it just seems to make her more determined. Focused always. When it's on the line she is pretty reliable. Other teams know it. The supporting cast came up big time today.
  8. GREAT WIN ! Markowski just got Player Of The Game. I would say that win puts us in the NCAA tourney.
  9. They probably will double team Markowski in 2nd half, if they have a brain at all. Other wise Alexis may have her way with them. On the other hand if Markowski is double teamed, the supporting cast must show up.
  10. 3rd qtr We're shooting poorly, turning the ball over, crazy subbing, seemly half there at times...and yet we're ahead by 6. Just suck it up and focus. Finish strong, and it will take care of it's self.
  11. Purdue beat Northwestern by about 6. So not real impressed with Purdue against a weak opponent. On the other hand we had a stinker our selves. We play Purdue tomorrow, Thursday at about 2 approximately. (we play after the first game of the day) We win, and next would be Friday, vs. Mich St.....all if the last bracket I looked is still correct. ************** (5) Nebraska Cornhuskers (19-10, 11-7 Big Ten) at TIAA Big Ten Tournament Thursday, March 7, 2024, 2 p.m. (CT) Target Center - Minneapolis, Minnesota Television: BTN / FOX Sports App Sloane Martin (PBP), Christy Winters Scott (Analyst) Live Radio: Huskers Radio Network (1 p.m.) Matt Coatney (PBP), Jeff Griesch (Analyst) B107.3 FM (Lincoln), 590 AM (Omaha), Huskers.com, Huskers App Live Stats: Huskers.com Nebraska Cornhuskers (19-10, 11-7 Big Ten - NCAA NET 29) 22 - Natalie Potts - 6-2 - Fr. - F/G - 10.5 ppg, 5.4 rpg 40 - Alexis Markowski - 6-3 - Jr. - C/F - 15.8 ppg, 10.7 rpg 1 - Jaz Shelley - 5-9 - Gr. - G - 12.8 ppg, 4.2 rpg 2 - Logan Nissley - 6-0 - Fr. - G - 6.4 ppg, 2.1 rpg 15 - Kendall Moriarty - 6-1 - Jr. - G - 3.5 ppg, 1.3 rpg Off the Bench 0 - Darian White - 5-6 - Gr. - G - 7.1 ppg, 3.7 rpg 14 - Callin Hake - 5-9 - So. - G - 5.9 ppg, 2.9 rpg 12 - Jessica Petrie - 6-2 - Fr. - F - 4.3 ppg, 2.2 rpg 21 - Annika Stewart - 6-3 - Sr. - F - 3.5 ppg, 1.5 rpg 42 - Maddie Krull - 5-9 - Gr. - G - 2.5 ppg, 1.8 rpg 32 - Kendall Coley - 6-2 - Jr. - F - 2.2 ppg, 1.9 rpg Head Coach: Amy Williams (Nebraska, 1998) Eighth Season at Nebraska (133-109); 17th Season Overall (326-218) Purdue Boilermakers (13-17, 5-13 Big Ten - NET 72) 20 - Mary Ashley Stevenson - 6-2 - Fr. - F - 9.8 ppg, 4.8 rpg 32 - Alaina Harper - 6-3 - So. - F - 1.0 ppg, 1.1 rpg 10 - Jeanae Terry - 5-11 - 5th - G - 5.2 ppg, 8.2 rpg 23 - Abbey Ellis - 5-6 - 5th - G - 14.6 ppg, 3.8 rpg 33 - Madison Layden - 6-1 - Sr. - G - 10.1 ppg, 3.2 rpg
  12. All of this bodes well for next year. Alexis, Potts and Nissely are all back next season, with a very nice freshman group coming in. Hopefully will transition and assimilate together and make a super team in 2024. Got lucky in my predictions and pretty much called all the Nebraska players and their ALL B1G selection spots. We all get lucky (hopefully) some times. Really though, two freshman on the ALL FRESHMAN team ! That's huge !
  13. Ashlyn Koupal Watch the video clips...she's a sophomore ? https://www.hudl.com/profile/15435236/Ashlyn-Koupal
  14. A lot will happen before next year, but based on this year, MaCabe will likely be in the same place as this year,,,if she stays at Iowa
  15. Just my guess, but that may be as good as ILL can play. Don't think they can duplicate that in the 2nd half. But.... they're at home...makes a big difference.

  17. Yes, and Prince for that matter. All the hype is dizzying. Let them get into a new level of game, and then see what they can do. Give them a chance to develop. It's a whole new ball game.
  18. Just watched the state tourney for Elk North and Skutt. Prince and friends won by 2 in the last couple of min. Really a good game to watch. Especially for class B teams. Two fundamentally well coached and executing teams. Skutt had only lost about 5 games in the last several (3 ?) years, and they have all been to Elk North. Mark up the 6th Not to sound sexist, but it was a war among the girls. Tough no holds bar game...especially by Skutt. They left nothing on the floor. Skutt was double teaming Prince pretty hard the whole game. They did hold her in check to a degree. She did show flashes of what she can do, and put her team on her back in the second half. They were down 9 at one point in the second half. Little McCabe can shoot the long one too.
  19. I could be wrong, but think Nebraska athletic rules say 7 & 8 are considered middle school, so are not high school 9-12. So 7 & 8 are simply not eligible for any sport. Not just girls as I understand it.
  20. They will lose maybe 3 or 4 to graduation, loss of eligibility, etc., and/or WNBA...some their better players. So it probably will be a bit of rebuilding. But there's younger talent on the team. And they have some of floor time experience. Will be interesting to see team makeup when they field a new team next season. But that's long way off.
  21. Addison Medeck found this....watch some of the videos. Double doubles...Definite prospect. Have to believe she's on some college radars. Just a freshman, and has good skills.....keep that in mind. 6-3 though makes up for a lot...maybe she's still growing ?? Hope she gets lot's of club ball through high school. https://www.hudl.com/profile/21184641/addison-medeck https://www.maxpreps.com/ne/papillion/papillion-lavista-south-titans/athletes/addison-medeck/?careerid=od98lg992l9g0
  22. AND.. The Catlin flop must be recognized in all it's glory !
  23. Roster set up.... Sorry, but still think our biggest need for the future, given our current and near future roster......are "big"s. Without getting into a discussion about individuals)..... we have guards, and more coming in.....and frankly there's lot more guards out there (no matter where or in what form you find them).....than there are good bigs that are "bangers". Maybe we have one or two in the wings, but not apparent now. We have a couple on the roster that hopefully can be coached to get a lot more physical. If you can't put a team on the floor with a good big...then you have to alter your scheme to make your team all about the guards. And honestly don't think you can be consistent (that word again)... winners in the BIG and nationally..... without a tough physical post player. The men's game is the same way. Anyway, enough of that...... This is a long week until the ILL. game. It's will a tough and very important game. To bad it's in their house.
  24. My guesses... Alexis for 1st team... 2nd possible overall team. She's possibly All B1G for defense too. Not sure were Jazz will end up. Maybe like last year. The big basket against Iowa may have some influence....and she's a senior. There's lots of competition for All B1G guards/forwards Potts 1st team freshmen. Possibly All B1G freshmen too. ..but again... lots of good freshmen in the league. Maybe All B1G 2nd team? 3rd team ? L Nissley could have been a All B1G factor if she had developed sooner. May be other Huskers on 2nd and 3rd teams, but hard to see how to sort out all the teams better players, compared to another teams similar players. ? Will be interesting no matter how it ends up.
  25. Her level of play has increased this year, especially considering her previous years here...we need another 6-3+ post....she knows the schemes...not a rookie...seems to be a great teammate.... ..so yes ...the team can use her if she wants to give it one more try.
