I know they’re called highlights for a reason but what is the most impressive to me is he can be 24 feet out, catch the ball at chin level and immediately release it  with no dip at all. I could do that too but his splashed and mine would land just the other side of the free throw line.

Glue teammates can sometimes learn to shoot as well...  think about ozzie smith in baseball -- always had the athletic ability and defense, learned to hit.

It's possible he made big enough of a jump forward with his athleticism that hoiberg wants to keep him around.

So many people want us to develop young talent but are shocked when it seems to be happening (if Hoiberg is not pursuing guys like that, you know it probably is).

The big difference to me is last year we had 1 guy with P5 experience (maybe1.5 but Thor did not play much). As others mentioned none of those outside of Cheatham was really highly rated coming out of high school. Those two were also our most consistent guys day to day. We also had zero guys who had run FH and Doc’s systems.

This year we will have 7+ guys with P5 experience and 5 guys who were highly ranked coming out of high school. We also have 6 guys with experience in this system now.

I know Banton is kind of unknown but don’t think he will be a bust. He was a top 50 kid who showed flashes at times but was not physically strong enough. I do not think Fred would by hyping him up so much if he was not sure he was going to be a good player for us.

I am not predicting a tourney bid or anything now but there is definitely a lot of reasons to be more confident than last year for sure.

Agreed.   And he's not the best player we have coming in.  Banton is.  Probably.  Allen might fight him for that.  We should be MUCH more competitive next year.  Plus it would be awful hard for the b1g to be as deep.

16-17 wins and NIT as a base with the ceiling being much higher.  It all depends on how we gel.

The "no open scholarships" bit is probably a bit of a false truth

We all know some people will move on.  Probably 3-4 if everyone is honest.

Plenty of room for transfers and whitt.

Yes, of the likely departures: Arop, Burke Jr., Green, Cross and now Mack I would least like to lose Cross. His game is very interesting and I think he could become something really special.

Basketball God #1 - Hey, fellas, I'm all out of ideas of how to screw with Nebraska basketball. I think it's time to let them go ahead and win. Basketball God #2 - Me too. Torturing them over the years has been fun, but this season has drained me. I just cannot think of a new creative way for them to lose, especially at home to a team as bad as Northwestern. Basketball God in charge of free throws - Hold my beer.

Given they're probably getting consistently beaten in practice it isn't rocket science to guess some would realize their playing time was toast and move on.

Jeez, if anyone and I mean anyone thinks we are being hard on cam they need to ask scott frost how insanely and absurdly hard we were on him.  If this is going hard, scott got ran over by a semi.  And that was just the first week after Arizona state.

And 20 years later we were ecstatic he came home.  Ok, he won a title.  But still... We were way, WAY beyond brutal.

Our fan base demands effort and results in that order.  If you give the effort, trust me, well the rest matters... but the respect level goes up and the edge comes off.  If you're just going to pout and cry, well... the fan base doesn't take it well.  And you know what?  No one else will either in professional or college.

This is a lot more fun that some of the other games this year...

It's pretty easy to see what hoiberg wants this team to be and that it will work if and when get the talent.

This is the reason why I truly feel they need to get rid of the "verbal". commitment altogether.

Especially for any player before his or her senior season.

We are talking about 16, 17 or 18 year old kids who really aren't ready to make that long of a time commitment at this time in their lives.

Just sign them on the day and everybody wouldn't lose their minds so much.

Would kill a bunch of " experts" careers though.

Isn't that the truth? Or have a family matter to attend to when one transfers back 'near' home..... it sure seems like a crapshoot with the NC two A.
