  1. In a very physical game (52 fouls) Purdue gets a neutral court win over #7 Tennessee 71-67 in Maui.
  2. Junior High Navin and his buddies loved that show. One friend even named his dog Haywood. SNL had a funny skit called "The black shadow" in which the black coach made poor life decisions and the white players had to bail him out!
  3. I have not watched Duquesne play yet this year, but from what I have heard, this game scares me.
  4. Did I hear the announcers correctly? Twelve offensive rebounds in the first half? That was a fun first half. Great game all together.
  5. I think we were playing Ohio State and we were up late in a close game.
  6. You mean like Lat did a couple years ago after a dunk and did not run back on D? I was yelling at my TV to "get back"
  7. I have been a little surprised at the comments about Brice Williams needing to show more emotion on the court. I find it enjoyable watching a kid just play and not show the emotion that some athletes feel they have to show. Tominaga is one that comes to mind. No doubt he is fun to watch but his antics are starting to get old to this old school basketball fan. I don't need to see a gesture from him every time he makes a shot. I know he plays on emotion but I like it when guys act like they were suppose to make that shot, basically act like you have been there before. I think KT right now is trying to do to much and just needs to let the game come to him. Please don't take this as complaining because I do like to watch KT play, just a minor concern from a long time fan. As for guys like Williams and Lawrence, don't change a thing. I guess variety is the spice of life and the challenge of being a coach is to blend the different personalities together into a cohesive unit.
  8. The first half was not pretty but it was good for the team as it felt like a physical Big Ten game. Tip of the cap to Stoney Brook for playing their butts off. They just ran out of gas. If the Frey kid ends up in the portal I would take him. Good thing Gary played tonight. Spacing, cutting and passing was good to see in the second half.
  9. You mean the things that would switch tracks right in the middle of your favorite song?
  10. We are definitely not clicking on offense but that is to be expected with all the new faces. We were maybe spoiled by the way we played at the end of last year a lot of which had to do with Walker's exceptional passing skills. The "hero ball" stuff comes as a result. The difference is it seems when players go one on one they feel they have to and are doing it for the team while a couple of years ago it was guys doing for themselves. At least that is the feeling I get. Rider did a nice job of clogging the paint and making hustle plays on D which took away things we were trying to do. The kick outs for open 3's were there in the first half and we took advantage, not sure what happened in the 2nd half.
  11. Wisconsin lost to #9 Tennessee at home 80-70 Maryland lost to Davidson 64-61 Monday's opponent Rider lost to Marquette 95-65
  12. Man he looks old. Good thing none of us have aged since his coaching days at NU! I think he was instructed to run a clean program and bring the graduation rate up, which he did. He just thought he could win with coachable kids that did not have the athleticism most of his conference opponents would have. It did not work and it was too little too late when he tried to recruit differently. He seemed like a good guy the little I interacted with him.
  13. Can't believe I missed this one. Tossed me a softball and I missed badly!
  14. Your rankings look pretty close to me. Griesel might be a little high as he struggled with quick guards, but then again he was playing out of position as a point guard. Tominaga can be a liability but will also make some plays as a defender.
  15. I can see both sides. It is a little ironic with Hoiberg seeming to like an older roster like he has now. I thought this might be a trend he follows in the future. (an older team) I just like the idea of kids being kids and enjoying their high school years because college athletics is much more demanding. I guess it is up to the kid. I also find it hypocritical when college football coaches say how important it is to be a well rounded athlete and play all sports and then ask them to go on campus their Senior year, giving up their winter and spring high school season, just to practice football a few weeks in the spring.
  16. If this is the case, is it better to play high school ball (class A in this case) your Senior year or redshirt and just practice for a year at the college level?
