Game Day Essentials: Game #26 vs Ohio St
Huskerpapa replied to hhcmatt's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
We need to play a clean game and hopefully continue our hot shooting from the PSU game. -
Playing post-season can be a good stepping stone into next season. That said, my NCAA hopes are still hanging by a thread and my NIT hopes are still a distinct possibility depending on how we play the next three weeks.

Can't we sacrifice a goat or something???

...and I still think this

Too bad the tournament with those pairings can't begin tomorrow. That would be a very good bracket for us.

Revenge AND G-Dub will not fall down. Huskers 73 OSU 70 -
Unbelievably, the weather in Arizona is supposed to stink this weekend. And of course, in Lincoln it will be high 60's and even in the 70's...go figure.

When Coach Miles left CSU, the school thought they had a good alternative, in fact he is still there. That said, there is a but... http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/ncaabk/colorado-state-investigation-larry-eustachy-intimidated-emotionally-abused-players/ar-AAmZuMa?li=BBnb7Kz

http://www.theonlycolors.com/2017/2/15/14622612/tom-izzo-rips-dan-dakich-video The video is embedded in the attached article. But Izzo blasted Dakich. Perhaps I haven't paid a lot of attention, but this seemed out of character for Coach Izzo. That said, I love that he has the backs of his players and fans.

uneblinstu's Post Game Chatter: Vol 9, Ed 25 - Penn State
Huskerpapa replied to uneblinstu's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Nice win...we looked so much better than Penn State. Jordy looked a bit gimpy. He is really progressing (props to the coaches for his development), but I was glad he played limited minutes. We need him down the stretch. Tai looked a bit gimpy. He didn't have the best scoring night, but he was effective with the pass. Loved to see the open players knock down the shot. Hope Isaiah is okay. It didn't look good when he went down. He was finally playing close to the anticipated expectations. Ed is still shaking off the rust. I imagine he is a bit frustrated. Jack's half court shot...nice! Isaiah's back-to-back dunks, super nice! -
Yup, they called Isaiah for a reach. Definitely a "touch" foul, which was strange because they weren't calling them much last night. The one that caused me the most angst was when Evan was called for (I guess) an arm bar. That was happening all over the floor and they called it right in front of our bench. Then I was a tad upset when Evan got a rebound and was absolutely mugged which resulted in a steal, and no call. But I agree with Norm, I will certainly take the way that game was called over many, many others. The one referee last night seemed to dominate the calls though...

Game Thread: Penn State vs. Nebraska

Nice win last night. Dare I say, it was never in doubt By the way, my head is still sore from when Cip stepped on it when he took over the game thread. -
Just a short follow up...I thought the crowd was pretty decent last night, especially for a Valentine Night encounter. It was perhaps at the peak in two instances...Jack's half court shot and after Isaiah's back-to-back dunks.

Watched the last eight minutes of the game. I was as amazed as Dickie V. KU administration may have scanned those who left, and they may end up getting their tickets taken away

My thoughts is that if anyone is in trouble, it would be SE, not Coach Miles. But that is simply my humble opinion. My one dissenting opinion, is that I believe the football team is now headed the right direction, and the three most recent hires were excellent.

The most important game of the year
Huskerpapa replied to jayschool's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
At a minimum, we need to win five out of the next six. It begins with the next game, we need a win versus PSU. -
Those refs had no clue where they even were
Huskerpapa replied to ajb5856's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
In the press conference before the Wisky game, both Coach Miles and MJ provided the same message...the first thing they need to do is not beat ourselves. There were multiple factors why we stayed in the game, and multiple reasons we lost. But the frustrating part for me was the missed opportunities. It was the 21 turnovers, it was the 13 turnovers inside the paint, it was the 7 missed lay ups, it was shooting 63% from the free throw line, and yes, there were some horrible calls. We can control the turn overs, the free throw shooting, the missed open looks and the missed bunnies. We cannot control the calls. That said, we each have things that frustrate us...and most can be resolved once we start winning these close games. I love this team, and I really think we have a good coaching staff. Good things may still happen this year, and I truly believe great things are around the corner. -
2017 PG Mark Smith -> Illinois->Mizzou-KSU

It has become increasingly more difficult to play multiple sports at this level, especially the first couple of years. Tie that to the academic responsibilities, I simply do not see this as a realistic possibility. -
Those refs had no clue where they even were
Huskerpapa replied to ajb5856's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
As much as I was upset with some of the calls in this (and many other games) it was our failure to execute that cost us this game. It was not the refs, it was not the coaches that turned the ball over 20+ times. It was not the refs or the crowd or the coaches that missed free throws and numerous bunnies (contested or not). I watched the warm ups like I do at every home game. I watch the coaches with the bigs. I watch interior passes, and with perfect form (and without an attempted power dribble) they power the ball to the basket. I just struggle understand...sorry just venting a bit. -

Ohhhh man, I am still depressed. Thank goodness I was able to go see the Cubbies World Series trophy this morning... -
It was interesting listening to the presser today. One example of good information was the discussion around MJ's outside shot. I have been telling those willing to listen that he was a very good exterior shooter. Today the discussion centered on MJ bulking up in order to bang in the paint. As a result, his outside shot left him. It is something he will really work on during the off season.
