The cost of bling! Great players come at a great monetary cost. But there can also be a cost relating to team commraderie and chemistry. Player A may have a lot of talent and wants to be the main dude and get the highest number of shots; but it could isolate that player from the remainder of the team...and what you get, is what we had, the first couple years under Fred. So it becomes a high pressure, highly important balancing act when we are building the team via the portal. We seem to be getting the right type of players as we build our roster. But if certain players want certain $$$ or guarantees, I assume they are advised to move on. So when I see a player we seemed to want, move on to greener pastures, my initial reaction is angst. It then dawns on me that perhaps the coaches and administration likely are fully vetting the potential roster invitee, and perhaps decided independently or mutually, that Player A best play elsewhere.

Plus, he likely will find 10 to 20 lbs of muscle within the next 6 to 24 months.

Or perhaps he becomes a spokesperson for a lasik surgeon as part of the overall package.

Former Nebraska guard Jamarques Lawrence has committed to Rhode Island, he announced on Instagram. Lawrence spent two years at NU and has two more seasons of eligibility remaining.

Think about this. We now have two legit point guards that are penetraters, pass first, and strong defenders. And oh yeah, Brice has shown he can play point guard; and then there is that kid named Sam.

Juwan came back with the goal of exponentially improving his perimeter shooting. He improved last year and believes he has a real shot at the NBA with further improvement. He knows his future is at the 2/3 rather than at the 4. So yes, he will certainly see minutes at the 4, but I think he really liked being slotted at the 3, like he was this past year. Given the tenuous situation with Rienk, I would love the addition of both Kyle and Igor.

Igor is the dude I want.

Omaha also picked up his replacement from the JUCO ranks that basically plays his position and is a prolific scorer. So.... On top of that, wheels are allegedly spinning at Nebraska that could make it more difficult for him to find a large number of shots. I'm not saying we are not the landing spot; but one really has to wonder who Fred has lined up and when the domino's start falling.
